MCU Boss Kevin Feige Discusses Black Panther 2 And The Return Of Killmonger
Rumours about Killmonger
There have been reports about Michael B. Jordan’s return in Black Panther’s sequel, in spite of his evident fatality. Angela Bassett’s partner, Courtney B. Vance, said the same in January. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige states that currently, the movie is too early in production. It will be hard to recognize if Killmonger will return for Black Panther 2.
Kevin Feige addresses Killmonger rumours
“Pure rumour,” Feige said when asked about the accuracy of the claims that Killmonger was returning. “The honest response to that is that it is a pure rumour. Mr Coogler is only in recent weeks taking a seat at his keyboard and also beginning to lay out the movie. It’s early, so nothing is set. Mr Coogler will share the details with Nate Moore as well as myself in coming weeks.”
Feige’s declarations make clear the film is still in the onset of manufacturing. This doesn’t necessarily suggest Killmonger won’t show up. Instead, production isn’t yet far enough along to understand if he will.
Killmonger’s character in Black Panther
In the previous movie, Jordan had undergone vigorous training sessions. His character held a lot of suppressed anger and emotions. Jordan had revealed the mental toll it took on him during his preparation for the role. In case he returns, he will no doubt have to go through intense training sessions again. There is less information about the highly-anticipated follow up to Black Panther.
Black Panther 2 is set to explore T’challa growing as King of Wakanda, after the events of Endgame. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. The re-released variation of the movie having bonus post-credits content is now in cinemas.
