Meghan Markle Declares War Against Royal Family, Dons Princess Diana’s ‘Revenge Ring’ to Rival Kate Middleton Wearing Prince Harry’s Late Mother’s Sapphire Ring
Kate Middleton is known to don some of the finest pieces of her mother-in-law Princess Diana. But seems like Meghan Markle is not happy with Middleton getting all the praise for honoring Princess Diana. One of the most notable pieces of jewelry Kate Middleton inherited includes her sapphire engagement ring. Recently during the 2022 Earthshot Prize event in Boston, she once again made headlines as she wore the emerald-and-diamond choker necklace of her late mother-in-law. The Duchess of Sussex, probably inspired by Kate Middleton, also decided to do something similar as she wore Princess Diana’s aquamarine ring.
Meghan Markle Wears Princess Diana’s Ring at Ripple of Hope Award
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the red carpet event for the Ripple of Hope Award Gala 2022 on Monday night. The couple was honored with the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award for their work through Archewell Foundation.
Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry put on stylish looks and even posed with Robert F. Kennedy’s daughter and human rights activist Kerry Kennedy. Prince Harry wore a navy blue suit, matching his look with the blue-red carpet, and Meghan Markle styled her white Louis Vuitton gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline and long sleeves with dangling diamond earrings and a sleek low bun.
However, one of her accessories took all the attention. The Duchess wore Princess Diana’s iconic aquamarine ring. Princess Diana commissioned the ring in 1996 as a replacement for her engagement ring after her divorce from King Charles III.
While Kate Middleton received the original sapphire-and-diamond ring of her late mother-in-law, Markle’s engagement ring was made from a diamond owned by Princess Diana. The Duchess of Sussex also wore the aquamarine ring at her wedding reception.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Accept the Human Rights Award
After the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge attended the 2022 Earthshot Prize ceremony, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also attended an award ceremony. They received the human rights award at the Ripple of Hope gala in New York.
The couple was named to receive the prestigious award in October. Kerry Kennedy specified during one of her interviews that the Duke and the Duchess were named the winners for their “moral courage.”
The decision has met with widespread criticism, as people believe that the couple did not have merit to receive such a prestigious award. However, the president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation believes that they have been incredibly brave to talk about the racial injustice in the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their royal duties two years ago and moved to California. The couple is known for delivering criticism of the British monarchy and has also accused the Royal Family of racism. However, the British Royal Family has dismissed their claims.
Upon receiving the award Meghan Markle and Prince Harry said, “A ripple of hope can turn into a wave of change”. The award ceremony comes soon before their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan. The couple has also been highly criticized for releasing the teaser for the docuseries during Prince William and Kate Middleton’s US visit.
Netflix’s Harry & Meghan is set to release on 8 December 2022.
