Naomi Watts went through menopause at a very early age
Naomi Watts is a renowned figure in the industry. The actress has been part of various successful movies. She is making headlines due to her secret marriage to Billy Crudup. Watts, in an interview with Hello Magazine, gave details about her wedding.
The 54-year-old actress went on to share about one of the most difficult periods in her life. She went through menopause at the early age of 36. Menopause is the time when a woman’s menstrual cycle ends. It is commonly felt at age 51.
However, The Impossible star experienced it at a very early age. The actress revealed feeling out of control. Watts said,
“Going through menopause at such a young age was not easy, especially during a time when there was so little information available about it. Mood swings, night sweats, and migraines…I was feeling like I was spiraling out of control.”
The 54-year-old believed if menopause hadn’t been such an off-limits topic when she first experienced it, then her transition would’ve been easier. The Mulholland Drive actress claimed that going through the hormonal changes earlier than she had anticipated made her feel freer.
She added, “Going through this journey led me to a deeper understanding of myself, and I came out on the other side feeling more authentically me.”
She continued,
“I had those voices in the back of my mind reminding me how old women are let out to pasture, but there was a lure to this desire to be authentic, to crawl from behind the invisible wall and just acknowledge for myself something that everyone could have probably guessed.”
Her life-changing event prompted Naomi Watts to collaborate with Menopause Mandate, a nonprofit group that seeks to transform the midlife support services accessible to American women.
