Michael Cera Was Cast in Barbie after Keanu Reeves’ The Matrix 4 Co-Star Rejected Margot Robbie Movie
Timing is everything, sometimes, even the brightest stars come charmingly close to taking on iconic roles, only to have the opportunity slip through their fingers due to unavailability and scheduling issues. Getting cast in a movie that’s expected to hit the box office in millions can take a massive turn in a celebrity’s career. But many almost-cast celebrities missed out on some appealing roles.
The charm of Hollywood, with its glitz and allure, has consistently beckoned talented actors and actresses to leave their indelible mark on the world of entertainment. But we can call it bad luck when really enchanting roles are offered to a celebrity but they only end up rejecting them as they might not be available.
Jonathan Groff Almost Played ken’s One of a kind Friend
Barbie is now in theaters, winning over fans and critics, and is already shaping up to be a major box office hit as it makes a $300 million opening weekend worldwide. With audiences finally getting to see the film, there are some standout moments and performances that are quickly becoming fan favorites including Michael Cera as Ken’s one-of-a-kind friend. Beneath the surface of red carpets and dazzling premieres lies untold stories about missed opportunities, where stars narrowly missed the chance to engrave their names in cinematic history. But it was not always Cera who was supposed to play Allan, it was Jonathan Groff who was offered the role but couldn’t accept it due to his busy schedule.
Groff is an American actor and singer who has a net worth of $5 million. He is probably best known for his voice work in the “Frozen” film franchise and for his starring role on the Netflix series “Mindhunte. Groff’s passion for musical theater began at the age of three when he saw Julie Andrews perform in Mary Poppins.
Fans are Appreciating Michael Cera for playing Allan
There are no multiples of Allan in Greta Girwig‘s Barbie, which makes Allan unique and he is Ken’s one-of-a-kind friend. he is humorous, kind, and supportive. Michael Cera who played Ken is loved by all the Barbie fans as he did fair with the character. In the same Twitter post where it has been revealed that Cera wasn’t the first choice, fans are appreciating Cera. let’s have a look at the tweets:

Having seen the movie I don’t think Allan would work as well without Michael. He’s just got the right spirit and natural comedic softness to him. Johnathan would’ve been indistinguishable from other kens so his othering wouldn’t make sense.

It was Cera’s destiny to play Allan and Slay, which he really did even though he has appeared less in the movie. Barbie is available in theatres and is earning more than Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
