Mila Kunis Claimed Humiliating Will Smith Following Chris Rock Oscars Slap Was a “No Brainer”
For Will Smith, the night of the 2022 Oscars could have been different if only he had managed to control his anger toward Chris Rock. Smith, who won the Oscar for Best Actor in 2022, slapped Rock because he made fun of Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head because of alopecia areata. Many people were shocked to see the Men In Black actor’s violent side at the Oscars.
Many people were reluctant to defend Smith after what he did to Rock, even when he won the Oscar for Best Actor. Mila Kunis, who is known for speaking out for what she believes in, opposed Smith receiving a standing ovation.

Kunis was one of the people who were against giving Will Smith a standing ovation after his violent demeanor towards Chris Rock. Kunis clearly stated that she was shocked to see so many people standing up in respect for the I Am Legend actor.
When Smith won the Best Actor award, there were people who stood up for him but many chose not to after what he did to the 58-year-old comedian. While talking about her perspective on the Rock and Smith controversy during an interview, Kunis stated,
“Not standing up, to me, was a no-brainer, but what was shocking to me was how many people did stand up. I thought, ‘Wow, what a time we’re living in that rather than do what’s right, people focus on doing what looks good.’ It’s insane to me.”
The Bad Moms actress also wanted to set an example for her children by not celebrating Smith’s win with a standing ovation. She said,
“The idea of leading by example only makes sense when you actually have someone to lead. We have our tiny little tribe here at home, and never once do I want to tell them to do something if I’m not willing to do it myself.”
Mila Kunis reportedly didn’t expect the King Richard actor to lose his cool at the Oscars. Many people didn’t expect this from Smith and distanced themselves after his Oscars controversy.

While talking about the Oscars controversy, Smith opened up about why he lost his cool that night on The Daily Show, hosted by Trevor Noah. Smith explained things were a bit different for him that night, he said,
“I was going through something that night, you know? Not that that justifies my behavior at all. I just – I lost it.”
Smith also said that it was rage that was inside him for a very long time. The Emancipation actor has been banned from the Academy for 10 years after slapping Rock at the Oscars in 2022. More than his win at the Oscars, his slapping moment has been discussed throughout the year. Smith’s movie Emancipation didn’t do well at the box office and the reason was his Oscars controversy.
