“Moments can be overwhelming”: Umbrella Academy Star Elliot Page Shares Shirtless Photo Post Transition Surgery
Actor and trans icon, Elliot Page posted a moving Instagram post about how gender-affirming care has changed his life.
It’s been two and a half years since The Umbrella Academy star came out as a trans man. Since then, he has become a beacon of hope for trans people worldwide. He keeps using social media to share positive updates about his gender journey.
In his latest Instagram post, Page shared a topless selfie to show the life-changing power of gender-affirming care for trans people. For the unversed, the 36-year-old actor came out as transgender in December 2020.
In 2021, the Canadian actor shared his journey of coming out as trans. He said that having top surgery was physically and mentally transformative for him.
“It has completely transformed my life… [It’s] not only life-changing but lifesaving.”
Elliot Page Goes Shirtless In His New Post
Elliot Page‘s first shirtless picture after top surgery has had 3 million Instagram likes since May 2021. But his new picture of his six-pack has almost 2 million in just 24 hours. His moving caption begins as:
“Dysphoria used to be especially rife in the summer. No layers, just a T-shirt – or layers and oh so sweaty – constantly looking down, readjusting my oversized T. It feels so f’ing good soaking in the sun now.”
His fans responded positively with comments after he shared the post. One said, “I will never understand how anyone could be upset about you living a joyful life.” While another wrote, “So grateful to witness this new and free expression of you!”
“Omgg you look so good,” a third fan commented and a fourth fan added, “You’re the hottest thing on Earth.”

Page came out as transgender in December 2020. Last year, during his visit to Late Night with Seth Meyers, he confessed to feeling an “extraordinary” degree of joy and “presence”.
“I feel a way that I really never thought possible for a long, long time. So that’s really what I’m focussing on and embracing the most. But, of course, moments can be overwhelming.”
The Change Was Not Only ‘Life-Changing But Lifesaving’
Last year, the Oscar-nominated actor changed his passport to reflect his gender identity. This is a good example of how something small can matter a lot. Elliot Page even said he felt like he finally looked like himself for the first time.
However, the Juno actor previously admitted he couldn’t look at photos of himself, especially when he played feminine roles in movies. After his top surgery, he told Time magazine:
“It has completely transformed my life….[It’s] not only life-changing but lifesaving.”
Since then, he has been happy and proud to show off his body transformation. Page posted his first shirtless picture since surgery in May 2021, six months after sharing his trans status. He tagged the post with words like “Trans joy” and “Trans is beautiful.”
Page revealed the cover of his upcoming book earlier this year. The photo shows the actor in a white tank top, blue jeans, and a necklace.
