1. Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a soft reboot of one of the most loved supernatural comedies. And it does justice to the spirit of the original and we saw a new generation of characters and they discovered the legacy of the Ghostbusters and they also take up the fight against Gozer the Gozerian.
The film has many funny characters which include seeing Paul Rudd’s performance as Gray Grooberson and McKenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler. The film is a perfect sequel and it honors the past and also takes the franchise in a whole new direction. There is great comedy, superb characters, and a touching tribute to the OG Ghostbusters film which makes this sequel rewatchable.
2. Mixtape
Mixtape is a comedy film set in 1999. It revolves around a young girl who finds a damaged mixtape that is left behind by her late parents. She starts connecting to them through the music. She starts hunting down those individual tracks on the mixtapes and soon starts making new friendships and gets an idea of the life her parents once lived.
This is an underrated film and has so many loveable characters with some nostalgic music with a heartwarming story. Gemma Brooke Allen did a fantastic job as the lead in the film and she is funny and innocent. It is a sweet film which will make you want to watch it again and again.
3. CODA
CODA is more of a coming-of-age dramatic comedy. It follows Ruby who is the only hearing person from a deaf family and she is torn between being the translator for her family’s fishing business and trying to pursue her passion for music. Her graduation is coming near and she has to choose between leaving for college and staying with her family.
There are some gorgeous performances by Emilia Jones, Marlee Matlin, and Troy Kotsur. The film blends humor with a touching message about family and one’s identity. The film gets better each time you watch it!
4. Werewolves Within
Werewolves Within is a movie based on a video game of the same name. The film is about a new forest ranger Finn Wheeler who movies into a small town that is actually divided over a pipeline. The townspeople start getting suspicious of everyone in the down since a strange and potentially supernatural activity starts happening.
The film has a great cast of some underrated comedians such as Milana Vayuntrub and Sam Richardson. The movie is funny and has many twists to the central mystery which makes it a great rewatch thanks to its entertaining and satisfying touch.
5. Bad Trip
Bad Trip is essentially a hidden camera comedy that follows friends Chris and Bud when they go on a road trip to NYC in pursuit of the woman Chris loves. The film is a combination of scripted comedy mixed with some unscripted hidden camera pranks.
Thanks to the committed performance from Eric André, the film successfully incorporates the hidden camera pranks and Eric is usually the victim of these pranks and they have captured the genuine reactions of the people around him. Because of these jokes and surprises, the film definitely deserves multiple rewatches.
