‘My family threw me away… I was a F**king machine’: Britney Spears Blasts Hollywood for Trying to Spin Stories Out of Traumatic Conservatorship Saga, Refuses Oprah’s Money for Tell-All Interview
Britney Spears has been through it all. She has been through hell in the form of her father’s conservatorship. The trauma she faced will never really be gone. And the pop star has come out in a short video to disclose the horrors she faced during the 14-year-long conservatorship, sharing the pain she faced all those years. But the tell-all video did not end there. She even spoke about how she refused to accept the money which came from Oprah Winfrey and her company in return for her story.
Britney Spears has let it all out
Of the hellish conservatorship, Spears said that she felt alienated from her family itself. In the audio file released on YouTube, she can be heard saying,
“They literally killed me. They threw me away. I felt like my family threw me away. I was performing for thousands of people at night in Vegas, the rush of being a performer, the laughter, the respect … I was a machine. I was a f-king machine, not even human almost. It was insane.”
She reminisced the time she was put in a mental hospital. She said,
“They put me in an ignorant state of mind to make me feel like I needed them, If you don’t do what we say, we’re going to show you who’s boss. I was, like, ‘Why are you guys doing this? Now you don’t have to go, but if you don’t go, we’re going to go to trial and you’re going to lose. I have way more people on my side than you [do]. You don’t even have a lawyer, so don’t even think about it.”
We can only fathom how she managed to brave through these trying times and it’s not shocking that she won’t be getting over this easily (that is if she manages to).
Britney Spears’ dad controlled her life
The worst thing about her situation was that despite being an adult, she did not have the freedom to make her own decisions.
She spoke of a guy she liked but couldn’t spend her time with. She said, “I was talking to a guy, and he wanted to just leave the country with me. We had it all set up to leave, and it was a secret relationship. My biggest fear was ‘What would my dad do if I did do something wrong? What if they found me? What would they do?’ … And she looked at me and said, ‘Are you kidding me, Britney? Your dad would never do that to you.'”
But her dad did not let her have her in any walk of life.
Won’t put a price tag on my story
Britney Spears has finally spoken the truth. And the Baby One More Time singer also added that she did so for free, despite there being an offer on the table for her life story. She revealed that Oprah Winfrey wanted to interview her, and she would have been paid handsomely. But she chose otherwise. She said, “I get nothing out of sharing all of this. I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people [for] lots and lots of money.”
Yet, she did not want to put a price tag on her story. She said, “But it’s insane. I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”
Britney Spears has shown how resolute her character is.
