New Marvel Series Reportedly Introducing a Major Villain Elizabeth Olsen’s WandaVision Was Initially Rumored to Have
Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most beloved superhero franchises. Having begun in 2008 with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, it has managed to build a huge fanbase with its movies and shows. Currently, it is in Phase 5 and the most recent release of this phase was the first season of the series Secret Invasion.
MCU’s Phase 5 is going to introduce four new series, namely Echo, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Ironheart, and Daredevil: Born Again. Every once in a while, fans receive new updates about MCU’s upcoming projects, some of which are exciting while others are disappointing. A rumor about the series Ironheart has started circulating on the internet even though it has not been addressed by the studio itself.

Ironheart Is Rumored To Have A Major Villain
Much is not known about the Ironheart series as Marvel Studios prefers keeping information under tight wraps until the project is ready to release. Even so, it is confirmed that Chinaka Hodge is creating the series and Dominique Thorne will be reprising her role as Riri Williams aka Ironheart from the final Phase 4 film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
As of now, there is not a lot of confirmed information about the cast of the series but recently, an X (formerly Twitter) user Marvel Updates has reported that the villain Mephisto will be appearing in the fifth episode of Ironheart. It has also been reported that the villain Parker Robbins aka The Hood (portrayed by Anthony Ramos) will make its first appearance in the second episode.

Similar to the other series of the franchise, Ironheart is going to be released on the streaming platform Disney+. At the San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the six-episode series was announced to be released in 2023. Later, it was reportedly pushed back to 2024 along with several other MCU’s Disney+ shows except Loki 2 which is going to be released on October 5, 2023.
Mephisto Was Expected To Show Up In WandaVision
Last year, Deadline reported that Sacha Baron Cohen was seen near Pinewood Studios where the filming of Ironheart was going on. This sparked rumors that he was going to star as Mephisto in the series. However, nothing was confirmed by the studio execs or Baron’s reps.

In 2021, Mephisto was expected to appear in WandaVision but that did not happen and so, the villain is yet to appear on the screens. Later, that year, WandaVision actress Kathryn Hahn said she had no idea whether or not the villain was going to appear in the show.
In an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Kathryn Hahn said:
“I keep hearing that. I have no idea. That was a big thing during WandaVision, but I have no, who knows. I mean, I think right now, like anything, like Marvel, I mean who knows it’s anything is probably possible, but like, I have never heard anything definitive about that at all.”
Hahn even went on to say that she did not even know the name of the show she was starring in until WandaVision was released. At the time, the actress even deflected answering which actor she would like to play Mephisto.
