Super Smash Bros., despite being 20 years old, still remains one of the most popular fighting games in the world that too with a quite vibrant competitive scene which is kept alive and much credit for the same goes a very passionate fanbase. Despite all this, it has still been given a cold shoulder by the EVO aka the most famous fighting game tournament in the wold.

Thankfully for all the fans of the game, EVO has fairly new ownership in the form of Sony and RTS.

For those who do not know much about it, popular Twitch Streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys is one of the co-founders of RTS and its current CCO, which means that she is now one of the co-owners of EVO. While we have known about the acquisition of EVO by Sony and RTS for a while, we didn’t know until this week that Pokimane is actually at the helm of the latter.

In the end, and as most of us expected, during a recent stream, Pokimane addressed the fighting game community and it seemed to be hinting that she is planning to bring Super Smash Bros. Melee back to the EVO, a show that it hasn’t been a part of since 2018, despite considerable demand.

During the stream, Pokimane went on to extend her appreciation for the fighting game community and how welcoming it has been and even noted that she believes the community has been ignored and starved of attention for years.

And while speaking about the fighting game community and EVO, Super Smash Bros. Melee came up which is when Pokimane noted that she’s made note of the fan’s demands to see the game back to the EVO. She went on to say, “Do you know the amount of friends that have messaged me and were like ‘Free Melee! Can you get it back on the main stage,’ and I was like, ‘noted guys noted.'”
