“No determination on whether it can go all the way”: Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow Spinoff in Troubled Waters, Says HBO Boss
Game of Thrones was an iconic show that had a great run. The show gave life to George RR Martin’s books and brought up many characters for the fans to love. The phenomenal show was set in the fabled realm of Westeros, where kingdoms and families fought one another for possession of the magnificent Iron Throne.
With its legendary cast of Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, and Emilia Clarke, among others, the show aired in 2011. It ultimately became a fan favorite with its complex tales. The eight-season saga ended in May 2019, with fans seeking more of it. The fans were relieved by the announcement of various sequels and prequels. They finally got the House of the Dragons prequel about the Targaryens, released by HBO in August 2022. Some were excited about the sequel series focusing on Kit Harington’s Jon Snow, but the latest reports about the sequel are disappointing for the fans.

Kit Harington’s Game of Thrones sequel is in trouble
With the end of the iconic show, Game of Thrones, HBO announced its various sequels. The show had a successful eight-season run and captured the heart of fans. After its end, a prequel focusing on Targaryens was announced, and it came out in August 2022.
The new HBO series House of the Dragons, based on George RR Martin’s Fire and Blood, is set nearly ten generations before the Khaleesi era. There was one more sequel announced in June 2022 focusing on Jon Snow. Kit Harington is set to return to reprise his famous role.
According to new reports, their show is in deep trouble, and there are slight chances of the Game of Thrones sequel coming out any time soon. Francesca Orsi, head of drama at HBO, discussed the future of the franchise with Deadline. She even provided insights on the Jon Snow spinoff. Orsi revealed the show is still in work, but it is early to determine whether it will go ahead.
She said, “We’re just working deeply with the writers to get it in shape for potential greenlight, but at this point, no, no determination on whether it can go all the way.”
The sequel was announced last year with Harington attached as a star and executive producer.
George R.R. Martin reveals details about Jon Snow’s spin-off
The author, on his blog, revealed some details about the sequel series. He said the working title of the show was Snow. The spinoff would take place after the ending of Game of Thrones. The high-budget fantasy series ended by revealing Jon Snow, real identity as Aegon Targaryen. He killed Daenerys when she fell into madness, and at the end was sent back to the Night’s Watch after having previously fled the Wall to command Winterfell.
Snow is one of the multiple planned Game of Thrones sequels. Another planned sequel includes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, which will adapt Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novella series.
The prequel of Game of Thrones, the House of the Dragon, is renewed for another season and is expected to premiere sometime in 2024.
