Famously known for her portrayal of cheerful princess-to-be in 2007’s Enchanted, Adams was highly appreciated for her work. The actress is known for being extremely hardworking and pays detailed attention to her characters’ psychology by creating a backstory for them from the age of three. Adams learned the acting method from her acting coach Warner Loughlin. For her upcoming movie, the actress’ transformation has left the fans speechless.

Amy Adams explores her wild side in Nightbitch

Directed by Marielle Heller, Nightbitch is an upcoming psychological comedy-horror starring Amy Adams in the lead role. The movie is based on 2021’s novel of the same name by Rachel Yoder, which follows the life of a stay-at-home mom who convinces herself that she is turning into a dog.

Vulture reports that facing the challenges of motherhood and receiving no help from her husband, Adams’ character expands the definition of a dog mom. The trailer of the movie showcases the actress’ character eating out of a pet bowl, barking at people, digging in the ground, and starting to wonder if she’s getting fuzzy and if her teeth are getting sharp like dogs have. It is, however, not clear if the transformation is just in her head or in real.

The publication added that Nightbitch might be the closest to what the industry can get to ‘Animorph’. ScreenRant also mentions that the upcoming movie might be just the right comeback for the actress after a string of disappointing releases, including Dear Evan Hansen, Disenchanted, and The Woman in the Window.

The filmmaker spoke to IndieWire about the upcoming project at the 49th Chaplin Gala back in April and shared:

The truth is, it got delayed because of the strike, which is fine; we needed to strike. It was an important thing, but it was hard to wait. It’s hard to be done with a movie and not have it come out. I don’t think I’m supposed to say something like this, but it’s kind of like having creative blue balls.

Heller continued that the entire team wants the movie to come out and be in a world where the audience can see it. She noted that she is excited that they finally have a date and the audience will be able to see what they have created. Talking about Amy Adams, Heller added that she is just incredible.

She’s been nominated for a million Academy Awards. She’s amazing, but she really is special in this movie, and I’m just so excited for the world to see her. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen from her before.

The filmmaker describes that the actress is fierce, funny, dark, and complicated in the movie, and fans are going to enjoy watching her. The movie is set to premiere at Toronto International Film Festival 2024.

Fans were left speechless after watching Amy Adams’ transformation in the Nightbitch trailer

The premise of the movie is not ordinary, and the actress has never been a part of such a plotline with a character who is convinced that they are turning into a dog. Although it’s going to be very interesting to see how she pulls this off, fans are already speechless to see her transformation in the trailer of the movie. A user commented,

Now that is quite a unique story. No rehashed or recycled plot here.

A user added that they do like the originality that comes with the plot of the movie, however, adding that the movie is going to give some meme-worthy stuff. A user gave thumbs up to the idea of the movie, which turns a woman into a dog, and compared it with a man turning into a wolf.

The movie also stars Scoot MacNairy, Mary Holland, Jessica Harper, Zoë Chao, Ella Thomas, Archana Rajan, and more. In her interview with Vanity Fair, the actress shared that Yoder’s novel is unique and other-worldly. She added that the thing she is attached to is the idea of loss of identity. A lot of fans did mention that even though the concept is unique, they don’t wish to watch Adams turn into a dog.

The author concluded that the movie is a comedy for women but a horror for men.

Nightbitch is set to release in December 2024.
