No Way Home: Benedict Cumberbatch Went To Extreme Lengths To Avoid Spoiling The Film
With the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home just a couple of weeks away, it’s safe to say that we are indeed in the “Endgame now” when it comes to leaks from cast members of the highly anticipated film of this year. While appearing in a recent interview with USA Today to promote the release of Netflix’s Power of the Dog, Doctor Strange actor Benedict Cumberbatch was asked about his role in No Way Home.
Unlike a few other Marvel stars, Benedict Cumberbatch is well versed with stepping away from questions, only to avoid giving any spoilers, considering the strict policy Marvel has regarding spoilers. When asked about the film, he said, “You know it’s a dead-end, but I can tell you this: It’s a riotous film,” before he assured the interviewer that doesn’t want to give away anything before the film hits the theaters. Well, Kevin Feige may have been around in the room nearby?
However, jokes apart, Cumberbatch revealed a rather surprising way that he used to avoid spoilers while working on the No Way Home.
He Didn’t Read The Whole Script
“I haven’t actually read the whole script,” Cumberbatch told USA Today. “I did that on purpose because I just want the ride.”
Now whether Benedict Cumberbatch was just trying to avoid the question with this answer or did he genuinely choose not to read every word written in the script, it’s quite evident that he doesn’t want to be held responsible for any new leaks before the release of the film in theaters, set to be released in the United States on 17th December, and is poised to break all pandemic era records as it has already crashed a few movie sites when the tickets appeared initially online earlier this week.
On the other hand, Cumberbatch’s next solo outing as the Sorcerer Supreme aka the Master of Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange in the Madness of Multiverse is currently undergoing reshoots which will take around six weeks, as per a report by Hollywood Reporter. The film is set to hit the theaters on 6th May, 2022.
