Hence, a switch over from his famed DC character role to a Marvel antagonist had stirred up hype among people. Christian Bale felt insecure on the sets of Thor: Love and Thunder
Christian Bale has gone through insane physical transformations in the past for his roles, in movies like The Mechanist (2004) and Vice (2018) among others. For the recent release too, He took on a challenge to fit his role as ‘Gorr: The God Butcher’. Nonetheless, the skinny physique of Gorr in the movie contradicts his comic appearance as a muscular individual.
The actor explains the reason in an interview, saying “He was also crazy musclebound in the comics. And I was in the middle of making another film where I was really quite skinny. I said, ‘Dude, nobody wants to see me in a G-string.’ And there’s no point in working out at all because you can’t compete with Chris.” Christian Bale in an interview revealed that he was worried about appearing shirtless next to Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Love and Thunder.“I did have a look briefly and said, ‘He’s got a G-string on. Nobody wants to see me like that.” The Dark Knight actor was quoted as saying.
Did the struggle for the role pay off?
The actor further shared that turning into the character (Gorr) on the set used to render him incapable of doing anything. He said he was “pathetic” and was barely able to walk and do things because of the long nails. Bale also said that it “affected his brain.”
Regardless, the actor’s toil has paid off with the movie’s massive success at the box office. The movie is doing well in the theaters in terms of box office collection. Bale received great reviews from fans and critics alike for his performance.
