The director and actor duo excelled at crafting almost every element of the dramatic thriller. Along with Jackman, acclaimed actor Jake Gyllenhaal played detective Loki.

The film not only features the anger Keller had after his daughter was kidnapped but also shows the actor’s incredible acting skills and portrays various emotions. While the detective expects patience from Keller Dover, the father is seen taking justice into his own hands for his daughter. If we compare Wolverine’s anger with Keller Dover, then many will agree that Hugh Jackman depicted more grounded rage in Prisoners.

Fans and critics along with the actor commended the director for his amazing direction and for incorporating his touch. Denis Villeneuve created a perfectly dramatic and powerful film with the Deadpool and Wolverine star, which can be considered better than his 2021 film Dune. Throughout Villeneuve’s film, we get to witness Jackman’s character being both, an angry and exhausted father.

Since Keller Dover is a complex and intriguing character, how can Hugh Jackman not like it? The Logan star expressed fondness and love for the character, and while talking about Prisoners, Jackman also agreed with the rage and exhaustion of his on-screen character.

According to Screen Daily, while Hugh Jackman was sharing his experience playing the titular role in Denis Villeneuve’s film, he also mentioned that:

“As a father, I can relate to a lot of it. As soon as you become a parent you can understand almost anything someone does for the sake of their children – that’s something elemental.”

The Real Steel star acknowledged his likeness for Keller and added:

“[Dover is] a character I like. I have a soft spot for characters like this. I can be objective enough about my life and know a lot of stuff comes more easily to me than it does to him.”

Hugh Jackman explained that after reading the script of Prisoners, he found it “incredibly violent” and the director also gave immense attention to this. Since Jackman was intrigued and excited about the film, he decided not to portray it graciously or calmly and went above and beyond for his role.
