Paul Mescal is easily one of the most charming actors in Hollywood right now. Add Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Joe Quinn to the mix, and the star power begins flowing over. Not to mention Ridley Scott’s masterful direction. The combination is deadly good and the audience has been lucky enough to witness it in Gladiator II.

There is no doubt that Mescal is different and is not exactly keen on fitting in. For instance, his hilarious reaction to meeting King Charles at the premiere of the historical action film shows that he has no qualms about being himself. He has proved it once again by revealing the one TV show that he absolutely adores.

During his recent interview with BuzzFeed, the All of Us Strangers actor answered many questions while playing with puppies. One of them was about the show he is currently binge-watching. He responded:

I love True Detective. I could go back to True Detective Season 1 at any given moment. Oh, yeah. I also love Slow Horses, watched that recently.

Most people usually love to watch shows like FRIENDS or The Big Bang Theory or maybe even The Office, but Mescal is obviously not most people. That said, the crime drama show stars some of the biggest Hollywood stars such as Matthew McConaughey, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Mahershala Ali, Jodie Foster, and many others.

Paul Mescal Wants Fans to Start a Barbenheimer-like Trend Again by Watching Both Gladiator II and Wicked on the Opening Weekend

Last year, the world witnessed one of the biggest cutural phenomenon ever that was ‘Barbenheimer’. With Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same date, fans decided to watch both of them on the same day and even dressed up accordingly. Something similar is happening this year with the release of Gladiator II and the much anticipated musical film, Wicked on the same date.

Mescal is not interested in starting a competition between the two. Instead, he has encouraged fans to show their love to both films. During his conversation with Variety at the UK premiere of his film, he suggested:

I think they complement each other really well because they’re so different. And if you love cinema, get out there and support it. Don’t wait for it to come on to a streamer, because we’re at a critical junction. We have been for a little while with theatrical films. If cinema is a thing for you, get out and see both films.

The actor has certainly given an important message by saying this because theatre culture is truly slipping away slowly as more and more people are resorting to watch movies from the comfort of their homes instead of going to the cinemas.
