Not Only Kate Winslet but $70M Rich Avengers Star Convinced Leonardo DiCaprio for James Cameron’s $2.2b Movie
Kate Winslet indisputably convinced Leonardo DiCaprio to star in James Cameron’s blockbuster Titanic. The film gave the actors immense commendation and made them superstars overnight. Not only did the actress persuade Leonardo DiCaprio to star with her, but another lauded actor also played a role in his decision.
Surprisingly Paul Rudd also played a significant role in influencing Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the compelling storyline that he initially did not find attractive. Paul Rudd who is iconically known as Ant-Man revealed that he motivated DiCaprio to accept James Cameron’s offer.
Avengers Star Paul Rudd Also Convinced Leonardo DiCaprio For Titanic
Kate Winslet once opened up that persuading Leonardo DiCaprio for Titanic was undeniably a hard nut to crack. The actress had to put an extra effort to make the Shutter Island star sign James Cameron‘s $2.2b Movie. The Labor Day actress revealed that she had to make endless calls to the actor until he felt guilty and decided to star alongside her. But remarkably it was another $70M Rich Avengers Star who also contributed to persuade the A-list actor. While speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Paul Rudd said:
“It’s Titanic.’ I said, ‘That’s incredible.’ And I knew a lot about Titanic ’cause my dad just talked about Titanic. And we just had a conversation about it, and he was saying like, ‘I don’t know what I’ll do.’ I remember saying, ‘You should do it.”
Paul Rudd who has been a significant part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe helped DiCaprio decide whether to accept the role of Jack Dawson or not. Surprisingly Rudd has a personal connection with Titanic as his father was an expert on the ship and its history. The Ant-Man star encouraged DiCaprio to take the role as he believed that it was an incredible opportunity for him which indeed came true.
Paul Rudd Was Rejected For a Role in Titanic
As Paul Rudd revealed that he had a deep connection with Titanic due to his father’s involvement, he also revealed that his audition for Titanic failed. The Ghostbusters: Afterlife star explained that while he and DiCaprio were working on Romeo+Juliet, Rudd also wanted to get cast in Titanic for which he gave an audition.
But unfortunately, the actor was rejected as he started discussing technical details related to the ship which wasn’t something the casting team wanted to hear. This might have happened as the Wanderlust actor’s father was an expert and Rudd might have learned from him a lot. However, it was in Leonardo DiCaprio’s fate to play the lead alongside Kate Winslet. Despite not earning any role in James Cameron’s movie, Paul Rudd’s fascination with the historic ship remains constant.
However, Paul Rudd’s career has been an incredible journey from moderate roles in movies to rising stardom through Marvel’s Ant-Man projects. Rudd has earned immense success and a dedicated fanbase through his iconic character which is considered one of the best roles in his Hollywood career.
