“Not today, motherf—ker”: Jeremy Renner Reveals Heroic Rescue to Save Nephew That Risked His Own Life in Near-Fatal Snowplow Accident
Jeremy Renner has finally spoken out about the tragic accident that occurred on New Year’s Day while attempting to divert a vehicle that was heading toward his nephew. Renner discussed the storm of emotions and the things he went through during his treatment in his first interview following his recovery from the accident.
After the accident, the 52-year-old actor explained how he had to make some difficult decisions. Renner also came out with some details about the accident in the interview which aired on Thursday night.
Jeremy Renner had 30 broken bones and several other injuries
In an interview with ABC News, Jeremy Renner talked about the details of his accident and the injuries he sustained. The interview was named Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview — a Story of Terror, Survival, and Triumph. Renner described an accident in which he and his nephew, Alex Fries, were intending to tow a pickup truck away from the snow with his sno-cat. Regrettably, after they separated the snow plow from the truck, it started sliding on the ice, and Renner fell out of his cab. Renner said,
“I just happened to be the dummy standing on the dang track a little bit, seeing if my nephew was there. You shouldn’t be outside the vehicle when you’re operating it, you know what I mean? It’s like driving a car with one foot out of the car. But it is what it was. And it’s my mistake, and I paid for it.”
Renner was concerned about his nephew Fries, and he feared the sno-cat would run over him. To avoid Fries being run over by the sno- cat, the Arrival actor attempted to jump back into his cabin. The actor said,
“That’s when I screamed, by the way, when I went under the thing. ‘Not today, motherfu**er!’ is what I screamed. Sorry for the language.”
This horrific accident left Renner with 30 broken bones and Renner also mentioned that he has lost a lot of flesh and blood in this accident.
Jeremy Renner asked his family not to let him live on tubes and machines
Renner was forced to make some difficult decisions for himself as a result of the tragic accident. After the accident, the American Hustle actor did not allow his daughter to see him. Renner requested with his family not let him live on tubes and machines if that was the only way he could survive. Renner said,
“Don’t let me live on tubes on a machine. If my existence is going to be on drugs and painkillers, let me go now.”
Renner was grateful to his family for always being by his side after the unfortunate incident. The actor stated that if he had been alone, it would have been a terrible death and that he would have died there after the accident.
