Recalling the scary New Year’s Day snowplow accident, the actor believed that he might not be able to make it which is why he mentioned he even wrote a heartbreaking letter addressed to his family.

The 52-year-old actor, Jeremy Renner made an appearance on Jeremy Renner: The Diane Sawyer Interview — a Story of Terror, Survival, and Triumph and gave his insights on the horrifying incident. In an interview released on Hulu, the actor opened up about his final words to his family that he wrote on his phone.

The actor shared,

“I’m writing down notes in my phone — my last words to my family.”

He believed he had already given up hope on getting better when he wrote the letter as he stated

“‘Don’t let me live on tubes, on a machine. And if my existence is going to be on drugs and painkillers, just let me go now.’ “

The actor got teary recalling the spine-chilling incident which resulted in him suffering from “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and breaking 30-plus bones. His condition required him to undergo multiple surgeries.

The Avengers actor further dived into the New Year’s Day incident as he recalled asking forgiveness from his family, “I’m sorry” in sign language from his hospital bed as he was unable to speak at the time.

He was helping his nephew from the snow when his snowplow ran over him which was said to weigh at least 14,330 lbs. As per reports, his nephew and a neighbor aided him until emergency services arrived. He was then airlifted to the hospital where he was treated while in the ICU.

In the interview, he opened up about blaming himself for the incident as he stated,

“I mean, I did that to them. And it’s my responsibility, you know? I feel bad that my actions caused so much pain.”

Despite all that, he is grateful to get another chance to live his life. The actor is on the road to recovery and is grateful for his family, friends, and fans who continued to pray for his recovery.
