“Now it’s a Prison, but I want to stop”: Keanu Reeves Paid a Heavy Price For Playing a Bad Boy

Keanu Reeves is undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s most-loved actors. His acting and film projects have all been well-received and even off-camera the actor is popularly known for his moral values and positive qualities.

But at the end of the day, Reeves is still a human, and that makes him vulnerable to bad habits as much as anybody else in the world. And it so happens, smoking is one habit he has not been able to get rid of since picking it up for one of his low-rated movies.

Keanu Reeves Picked Up an Addictive Habit While Method Acting

Although Keanu Reeves had the best intention behind taking up real smoking for his role in 1996 Feeling Minnesota, it ended up being his worst habit. In the film, he plays the role of a man named Jjaks Clayton who falls in love with his brother’s woman, a stripper player by Cameron Diaz.

Since Clayton was the type regarded as a bad boy who also smoked, Reeves took it up for real to immerse himself knot the character.

Unfortunately, this did not have a good consequence, as the actor who had been in. His early 30s at the time ended up with a smoking addiction. The Matrix star opened up about it via Daily Mail back in 2020 saying,

“I didn’t even start until I was 30. I got hooked making Feeling Minnesota and now it’s a prison, but I want to stop.”

Hopefully, the actor can get rid of this one harmful habit in the future before it has any health implications for him.

Keanu Reeves who is currently 58 years old started his acting career in the 80s, with his first film being the 1986 Youngblood in which he plays the role of a hockey player. Following that, Reeves gradually worked up the ladder and made a name for himself through movies such as the Matrix films series and John Wick, etc.

Currently, he is considered one of the best actors in Hollywood. And being a good person has helped him remain popular even among younger generations. However, one thing that may surprise people, is that despite his popularity the actor has never recieved an Academy Award throughout his career till now. That obviously does not take away the fact that he is a commendable actor in his own way.
