“Oh Bridgit, the ICON that you are”: Selena Gomez’s Wizards of Waverly Place Co-star Joins the League of Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd with her Latest Achievement
Actress-singer-songwriter Bridgit Mendler started her career as a child actress and appeared in 2007’s Alice Upside Down, followed by 2008’s The Clique and 2009’s Labor Pains. The actress became a household name after she starred as Juliet van Heusen on the Selena Gomez-starrer Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place, from 2009 to 2012.
Mendler has been a part of projects including Undateable, Nashville, and Merry Happy Whatever. She is not only a talented actress but also a singer and released her first studio album in 2012, titled Hello, My Name Is…which was followed by her embarking on two concert tours. The actress-singer is one of the most talented artists in the industry, and her latest achievement is just proof of that.
Selena Gomez’s co-star Bridgit Mendler graduates from Harvard Law
The Good Luck Charlie alumni, Bridgit Mendler, has finally graduated with a degree in law from Harvard. In a video shared online via Pop Crave, the actress can be seen walking across the stage to collect her degree from a Harvard faculty member. The actress had decided to tag along with her 4-year-old son, whom she adopted in 2022.
Back in 2010, the actress had started to study anthropology at the University of Southern California. In an interview with USA Today, she said the following about her education:
My plan right now is just to do one class at a time and see how that goes. I’m going to study something that will be interesting and doable down the road, and I’ll just take care of my general education and courses for now. I want to do something outside of what I do.
In 2019, Mendler enrolled in a class at Harvard Law School and began working on her Ph.D. with MIT’s Center for Constructive Communications and Social Machines group. The actress revealed earlier this year that she had decided to say goodbye to her Hollywood career and launch a tech startup with her husband, Griffin Cleverly; Northwood Space. According to Today, the tech start-up aims to mass produce ground stations or large antennas that connect to satellites in space.
Bridgit Mendler also revealed that she is a mother to a 4-year-old boy (via X), adding that she started fostering in 2021 and adopted him near Christmas of 2022. She shared via a post on social media that as much as she enjoys pushing the boundaries of the possible and saying yes to more things in life, she needs to understand things such as prioritization and discernment.
Fans react to Bridgit Mendler’s latest achievement
The actress, who had impressed the audience with her performance as Juliet van Heusen opposite David Henrie on Wizards of Waverly Place, before she decided to take a step back and focus on her education, had managed to establish a loyal fan base that is now just as proud of her as her family. A user online noted, ‘Oh, Bridgit, the icon that you are! Huge congrats, queen’.

The Disney Channel alumnee has joined an exclusive list of actors who went to Harvard University, which is known to be one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Actress Natalie Portman graduated with a degree in psychology, and after a year of her graduation, she earned her first Academy Award nomination for Closer.
Rashida Jones studied religion and philosophy at Harvard and graduated in 1997. Just like Mendler, Ashley Judd was an established actress when she decided to return to her education and earned her Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School in 2010.
