The former wife of actor Bruce Willis, the actress, decided to be candid about her difficulties after her divorce from Ashton Kutcher and how they affected her relationship with her daughter.

Demi Moore admits to feeling lost following her split from Ashton Kutcher

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher met in 2003 and became one of the most talked about couples in the industry. However, they got married in 2003 before announcing their split in 2011, which Moore describes as the darkest period of her life.

In her memoir, Inside Out: A Memoir, Demi Moore detailed her journey of self-discovery and acceptance. In her interview with Good Morning America back in 2019 via E! News, she said addressing her split from the actor; “I lost myself. I think the thing is, if I were to look back, I would say I blinded myself and I lost myself.”

On her appearance on Red Table Talk in 2019, the actress revealed that she was addicted to Ashton Kutcher. She said,

“The addiction and the co-dependency… like my addiction to Ashton — that was probably almost more devastating because it took me seriously away emotionally.” Following her split from the actor, the actress started to party and drink more than usual, which is described as the darkest period of her life.

Demi Moore’s post-split lifestyle damaged her relationship with her daughters

Demi Moore’s daughter Tallulah Willis also appeared on Red Table Talk along with the actress and shared that her addiction had affected their relationship. She shared via The Things;

“Watching the behavior with Ashton, those years, because everyone had left the house and it was just me living there. I felt very forgotten, and I feel like I developed and nurtured a narrative where she didn’t love me and I truly believed it. I know that she does, 100 percent, but at that moment you’re hurt.”

The daughters Scout and Tallulah noted that when Moore suffered a drug-induced seizer during her partying era, they decided to cut her off their lives for three years, but Rumer acted as a bridge between them. Rumer said during the conversation,

“Scout and Tallulah had very different experiences than I had when we stopped talking to my mom.” The actress desired to have a child with Kutcher, which made her daughters feel that they weren’t enough, as Rumer said on Red Table Talk,

“When [Demi] wanted to have another baby and then it wasn’t happening and there was so much focus on that, it was like, ‘Oh, well, we’re not enough,” Tallulah explained that she felt angry at the time because she felt like something that was her had been taken away.

Demi Moore partly blames Ashton Kutcher for her relapse

The actress admitted that she was almost 20 years sober before she relapsed and went on to partly blame her ex-husband for her relapse, stating that she wanted to be that girl for the actor.

“I made my own story up, that he wanted somebody that he could have wine with that he could do stuff [with]. He’s not the reason why I opened that door up. I wanted to be something other than who I am. And it was literally like giving my power away.”

The couple also dealt with late-term pregnancy loss about which the actor spoke in an interview with Esquire and said, “Losing a kid that you think you’re going to have, and that close to thinking you’re going to have a kid, is really, really painful. Everyone deals with that in different ways.”

She noted in her memoir that she tried hard and went into contortions to try to fit the mold of a woman he wanted his wife to be. They announced their split in 2011 finalizing their divorce in 2013.
