Drop those car chases and motorcycle mayhem, ‘cause you’d get that real adrenaline rush from a simple scene of The Bikeriders. Actor Hardy spills the tea (or, might we say, motor oil?) about Austin Butler leaving everyone (including himself) with crimson cheeks!

Directed by Jeff Nichols, The Bikeriders is a new biker drama film featuring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Tom Hardy, and other prominent actors. FocusFeatures on IG shared a reel of director Nichols speaking about the first scene, wherein Benny (Austin Butler) approaches Kathy (Jodie Comer) to talk.

Wearing a sleeveless top to flaunt his muscles, Butler sits down. Tom Hardy cracks a joke after the opening shot, saying, “Hey, Austin, just turn your chair around.” Butler does so, and to everyone’s surprise, puts his hand on the chair, making his massive biceps and triceps stand out even more. This trivial change increased the scene’s visual impact and made it pop. Laughing and giggling like a little girl, Nichols revealed,

It had to be one of the most erotic moments I’d ever seen on film. We put Austin sleeves cut-off, so you could see his arms—and after the first take, Tom yells out: ‘Hey Austin, turn your chair around.’ And Austin did it and then propped his arms on the chair, and these massive biceps and triceps glistened in the light.

Speaking by Zoom one month prior to the movie’s June 21 premiere, Tom Hardy appears at ease and upbeat, smoking a vape pen in between long responses while sporting a black hoodie. In stark contrast, he plays the heavy role of Johnny, the founder and head of the Vandals motorcycle gang in Chicago.

The Bikeriders received a solid 89% on Rotten Tomatoes at launch after its Telluride Film Festival debut last year. Since then, it has somewhat decreased to a still respectable 82% ahead of its theatrical debut. In addition, Norman Reedus, Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Michael Shannon, and Mike Faist from Challengers are featured in the film.

The Bikeriders, which is set in the late 1960s and is based on a picture book of the same name, chronicles the adventures of the Vandals, a Midwest motorcycle gang commanded by Johnny (Tom Hardy). Jodie Comer’s character Kathy is smitten with Benny (Austin Butler), the club’s newest member.

Like the surrounding country, the club starts to change as it goes from being a meeting spot for outsiders to a violent underworld, forcing Benny to decide between his allegiance to the club and Kathy. Not only the director but even fans loved the scene. Check out some fan reactions:

As the world around them transforms, so do the Vandals. The club, which was once a safe refuge for outsiders, is forced to sink into a dangerous underworld, forcing Benny to choose between: his loyalty to the brotherhood or his love for Kathy. Will love defeat brotherhood?

The Bikeriders is all set to hit the screens on June 21, 2024! As a FocusFeatures and Universal Release, the film will stream on Peacock at a later date. Stay tuned!
