One Piece: 5 Fight Scenes in the Series That Are Actually Better Than Luffy vs Lucci Rematch, Ranked
One Piece anime has finally animated the amazing rematch between Luffy and Lucci in episode 1100, which everyone had been waiting for a long time. The episode became the talk of the town on the internet, where fans appreciated the animators for pulling off such animation.
The episode has now become 4th top-rated episode of One Piece on IMDb. Some fans are going as far as claiming it to be one of the best fight sequences we’ve witnessed yet in One Piece.
However, many fans are forgetting that there are still many fight scenes in One Piece that are way better than the Luffy vs Lucci rematch. So, to clear up the confusion, we are bringing you the top 5 fight scenes in One Piece, which are better than the Luffy vs Lucci rematch.
No. 5 The Alabasta Showdown: Luffy vs. Crocodile
The Luffy versus Crocodile fight is still considered one of the best in the series even after so many years. This fight had more buildup as compared to the Luffy vs Lucci rematch.

We had a whole segment where Luffy faced many challenges before fighting Crocodile, so he could free Alabasta from his evil desire to build a utopia. Whereas in the Luffy vs Lucci rematch, there wasn’t much built-up or specific reason for the fight. Lucci just wanted revenge on Luffy because of their previous encounter in the Enies Lobby, where Luffy defeated him.
No.4 The Battle of Haki: Luffy vs Katakuri
The Luffy versus Katakuri took place in the Whole Cake Island, where Luffy faced an opponent with advanced observation haki for the first time. During this fight, Luffy learned a lot about observation haki, and he even developed it to an advanced form, which helped him in defeating Katakuri.
Whereas in the Luffy vs Lucci rematch, Luffy was already way stronger than Lucci and had learned basically everything. So, there was no such built-up as we saw in Luffy vs Katakuri’s fight scene.
No.3 The Return of the Dark King: Rayleigh vs Kizaru
Even though the fight sequence of Rayleigh vs Kizaru was short, it was well worth it. It was also the first time where we had seen a pirate of the Old Pirate Era fight.

Seeing an Admiral going toe-to-toe with the right hand of the King of the Pirates was breathtaking. While in the Luffy vs Lucci rematch, there was nothing extraordinary or wow factor except the animation part, which was done pretty well.
No.2 The Battle of the First Mates: Zoro vs King
The Zoro vs King fight sequence still holds 5th spot in the One Piece episode’s ranking. Zoro used his sword, Enma, to its full potential to defeat the strongest crewmate of Kaido. Their fight was really intense and had us all worried till the end whether Zoro would or not.
The animators really did an excellent job in adapting this fight from frame to frame and set a high bar, which is still yet to be reached. Though the Luffy vs Lucci rematch was also very well-animated, it couldn’t reach the level of intensity of the Zoro vs King fight sequence, as we all already knew Lucci doesn’t stand a chance against Luffy’s Gear 5.
No.1 The Showdown of Yonkai: Luffy vs Kaido
Luffy vs Kaido’s fight sequence is still one of the most awaited fight sequences in not only One Piece but in the entire anime industry. Everyone was waiting for it to adapt for a long time. And when it did, it broke the servers of Crunchyroll.

This fight had a long build-up, where we saw Luffy practicing his armament haki to fight Kaido, as it was the only way Kaido could have been damaged. There is no comparison between Luffy vs Kaido and Luffy vs Lucci’s rematch fight scene. Luffy vs Kaido’s fight is better in all aspects. It is still one of the best fights in One Piece, where Luffy defeated the strongest pirate alive, Kaido (bounty-wise).
