‘Our Humanness Isn’t Accepted’: Willow Smith Defends Father Will Smith After Laughable Apology Video, Claims Their Celebrity Status Eclipses Their Inner Humanity
The inconclusive slap at the stage of the Oscars seems to be coming to a conclusion from the Smith family as the actor Will Smith has apologized through a video to Chris Rock. After facing some level of backlash from the internet for the late but sincere apology, Willow Smith decided to share her thoughts and step up for her father in an interview that took place this Friday.
Will Smith released an apology video
The Men In Black star recently uploaded a video to his official YouTube video. The video was centered around answering the questions that were revolving around the actor and his actions at the Oscars. Will Smith answered each question calmly while also apologizing for his actions to his fans and to Chris Rock. The actor also promised to change his image for the public in the coming time.
The internet was quick to make fun of the classic YouTuber apology formula
The method in which Will Smith decided to apologize, although it may be genuine, was instantly made light of. This was happening due to the actor following the exact formula that a lot of YouTube apologies follow: A text at the beginning of the video, walking into frame, and talking about the controversies that have led the person to make the video.
Due to this exact formula being followed by the actor for his video, it was naturally made fun of by other YouTubers and the public in general. Whether it was a genuine attempt or not, the internet has already decided that the video falls into the ocean of generic and heartless apologies given on the internet.
Willow Smith takes up for his father, claims stardom removes humanness in the public’s eyes
Will Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith, was the latest member of the Smith household to take a stand for her father. “I see my whole family as being human, and I love and accept them for all their humanness.” the daughter of Will Smith, 21, told Billboard in an interview published Friday.
The singer continued with her statement “Because of the position that we’re in, our humanness sometimes isn’t accepted, and we’re expected to act in a way that isn’t conducive to a healthy human life and isn’t conducive to being honest.” Willow Smith’s words are bound to turn some heads as the singer stated a condition placed on all those celebrities who have gained stardom. While her words ring true to an extent, is it enough to give Will Smith a second chance in the eyes of the public?
