DC Studios previously revealed a full lineup of movies and TV shows that are part of the studios’ DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. James Gunn and Peter Safran confirmed several movies and TV shows, however, the list did not include anything related to Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. Fans now wonder if Aquaman’s future in the DC universe is uncertain.

Despite Aquaman 2‘s recent test screenings being a complete disaster, Jason Momoa is reportedly optimistic that Aquaman will play a significant role in the universe. The actor is quite excited about the second installment of the series. Even Amber Heard’s future in the universe is quite uncertain as people want her to be removed from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

DC Studios’ CEO and Co-Chairmen James Gunn and Peter Safran previously unveiled DC Studios’ future. They revealed 10 upcoming movies and TV shows that are currently being made. The list included some big names like, Superman: Legacy, The Brave and the Bold featuring Batman and Robin, Swamp Thing, and Creature Commandos. As per sources, the creators are planning to revamp a lot of existing stories in the universe. However, the list was missing a major name: Aquaman.

Jason Momoa believes no one is bigger than Aquaman

With fans being concerned about Aquaman’s future in the universe, actor Jason Momoa has different views. The actor previously talked about Aquaman in an interview with Total Film magazine,

“Peter [Safran]’s my producer [on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom], and is a dear friend. I absolutely think Aquaman will be involved in the DCU. It’s on, bro – there’s no one bigger than Aquaman! But, also, I hope people are excited to see the new one. It’s fun. I really enjoy doing comedy. There’s some really funny stuff with Patrick Wilson. I really adore him. We had a great time working together. It’s like we’re brothers. There’s a lot of cool stuff happening in this one.”

Jason Momoa believes that “no one is bigger than Aquaman” and is positive that Aquaman will play a major role in the universe in the future.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom‘s test screenings were a disaster

In February 2023, the test screenings of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom took place in several theatres. It was a complete disaster as people walked out of the theatres mainly because it was “missing a lot of material.” However, the creators still have time to fix all those things as the release date is quite far.

The expectations are quite high as the first Aquaman movie grossed $335.1 million in the United States and Canada and $813.4 million in other territories, for a total worldwide gross of $1.149 billion. It became the highest-grossing installment in the DCEU. Watch Jason Momoa in the second installment of the Aquaman series, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which will hit the theatres on 25th December 2023.
