Popular Games Where You Play As The Villain
Humans have told stories about good presiding over evil from the dawn of time. Usually, video games fall into line, with most games requiring the player to stop the villain, safeguard the land, and create peace for those who are trying to do good. Being placed in the shoes of a bad guy in a video game can be a terrific opportunity to go crazy and let off heat without the implications of real life. It’s sometimes satisfying to cast off the burden of morality and take on the role of the powers of evil. Here are some ‘Popular Games Where You Play As The Villain‘ for those who want to experience the pleasures of being evil for themselves.
God of War Series
This is, without a doubt, the best specimen of the genre, and for good cause. Kratos attained divine status via faithful service and then attempted to conquer Greece. The other gods were just not having it, so he rebels and joins forces with the Titans to wipe them out. In a nutshell, you’re an enraged god seeking vengeance on those who have offended you. It’s entertaining, and you are undoubtedly the bad guy — and besides, you’re up against Greek gods.
Prototype
Long before the big twist seals their destiny as the villain, Prototype allows players to unleash their supernatural abilities against the citizens of New York City. Alex Mercer is a key character in the original Prototype game who possesses shape-shifting abilities that allow him to transform into a lethal weapon.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
The game performed a fantastic job of providing Star Wars amusement to fans at a time when the franchise’s fanfare was nothing as high as it is now. The big attraction of The Force Unleashed is playing as the bad guy, with players starting out as Darth Vader before swapping to his teenage apprentice, Starkiller.
GTA
While the individuals in these aren’t entirely evil in the sense that they have a hideaway and a cat, they are the epitome of bad guys – there’s no way to chase down innocent civilians on the side of the road while being the nice bloke. Because there are few if any ‘good’ individuals in the games, the morality of almost any character may be easily questioned – but that doesn’t make you, the player, any less of a good person.
Overlord
Players control the fictional overlord and his military of minions as they attempt to conquer the planet in the Overlord series. Overlord is likely to appeal to those who prefer dark humor and sarcasm. Overlord: Fellowship of Evil, is a bit underwhelming, but the first few are excellent and worth checking out.
