Prince Harry Royally Snubbed in King Charles Coronation Ceremony as Royal Family Chooses Prince William Over Him
The tension between the royal family is not a new tale, yet the flames of the feud are still high. It’s the time for King Charles’s coronation, and all the family members have come together to celebrate the king’s big day except for a few. Recently, it was revealed that Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, wouldn’t be making it to the king’s coronation.
During the coronation, Prince Harry came alone to support his father but was seated at a distance from his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. The incident marked the persistent tension between the family.
Prince Harry maintained a distance from his family members
The tension between the royal family continues, and this time it was noticed at the coronation ceremony of King Charles. Prince Harry, who showed up at the event without his family, opted to stay away from his brother, Prince William. Prince Harry was seen sitting several rows behind his brother, who was accompanied by his wife, Kate Middleton. Rather than sitting beside his brother, Prince Harry sat in the third row alongside his cousin, Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank.
While the front row was filled with the working royals, including Prince William, Prince Harry was seated behind them at the historic event. According to an insider,
“Harry has not been told where he’s sitting yet, but I highly doubt that it’s as far back as the 10th row.”
All the members of the royal family were given some official tasks during the ceremony. But Prince Harry was barred from the official role, even though he is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne. Whereas Prince William and his eldest son, Prince George, were assigned special duties for the coronation service.
Why was Prince Harry not given any official role in King Charles’s coronation?
Prince Harry wasn’t assigned an official role in King Charles’ coronation service because he stepped away from his duties in the royal family in 2020. A source told,
“Harry’s going to show up to support his dad. All I know is that it’s a stretch to ask much more for him … he doesn’t have any sort of agenda other than just getting in and getting out.”
Since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle relinquished their roles as working royals, they were excluded from many events in the past as well. Last year, at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the couple was allotted the seat behind Prince William and his wife. Before this, they were restrained from standing on the balcony at Buckingham Palace along with the other members of the royal family at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The tension between the family arose as Prince Harry released his memoir, Spare, in which he exposed the royal family.
