Rachel Zegler apologizes for her ‘angry’ post against the re-election of Donald Trump

Just like everyone else, actress Rachel Zegler was also surprised and disappointed with the 2024 presidential elections’ results, which saw the reelection of former president Donald Trump. He beat Vice President Kamala Harris. Zegler took to her social media to share her view on the result, which has been labeled as ‘angry,’ as she wrote (via Page Six)

I find myself speechless in the midst of this. Another four years of hatred, led us towards a world I do not want to live in. Leaning us towards a world that will be hard to raise my daughter in. Leaning us towards a world that will force her to have a baby she doesn’t want. Leaning us towards a fearful world.

The actress further wrote that she is not shocked, but heartbroken for her friends who have woken up to fear, adding that she is there for them. The West Side Story actress added that the loss should not have been and certainly should not have been by so many votes. She lastly added that many Trump supporters and Trump himself never know peace.

Reminding everyone that the result of the election has had an emotional effect on everyone, she noted that she firmly believes that everyone has the right to their opinion. She added she’d do better for a better tomorrow.

Rachel Zegler’s comments on Snow White backlash by stating it comes with being ‘outspoken’

The actress who is set to star as Snow White in the live-action adaptation of the 1937 animated Disney film has received some backlash over her nature of being outspoken. In her feature for The Wrap’s Latino Power List in 2023, she acknowledged the backlash by stating

It’s an honor to be recognized in a way that both celebrates our heritage and lifts up the contributions we all make to this industry, where it can be particularly hard for us to be seen and heard in a meaningful way.

The actress noted during the interview that all she has to say to the young Latino performers coming up in the industry is to know their worth and make sure they’re loud about having seats at a table. She mentioned she learned the hard way that they have to be fearless and loud to be heard and to prepare for the backlash that occasionally comes with outspokenness.

Zegler’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has drawn controversy for months, and her statement ridiculing the seemingly anti-feminist themes went viral online. She said at the Disney D23 Expo, (via Fox News)

I mean, you know the original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so. There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! So we didn’t do that this time.

The actress mentioned that the upcoming movie has a different approach, and people might assume it’s a love story, but it’s not really about the love story.

She clarified that the new version of Snow White is not going to be saved by the prince. Instead, she is dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be. After receiving backlash for her comments, she wrote on her X account, ‘I hope the world becomes kinder‘.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ live-action adaptation Snow White is scheduled for 2025.
