The Legendary Actor Max Von Sydow dies at 90

In a career that flourished for more than sixty years, Swedish actor Max Von Sydow passed away on 8th March 2020 in Province, France, aged 90. The mastermind behind some box office giants like Star Wars – The Force Awakens and Game of Thrones, he was nominated twice for Academy Awards and won the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival for “Pelle the Conqueror.” Deadline broke out the news of the actor’s demise early in the morning on Monday.

Throughout his career, Max von Sydow experimented with the roles that were offered to him. His honest and immaculate love for films led him to reprise some of the most iconic characters of his era. He brought the characters of “Father Lankester Merrin” and Antonius Block from the cult-classics The Exorcist and The Seventh Seal to life with his intense acting. He loved the art of film making. This love allowed him to take over the directorial duties for the film “Katinka,” and he won the Best Director award for it in 1988 at the Guldbaggen Awards. His final role would be seen in the yet to release film Echoes of the Past as the old version of Nikolas Andreou.

Deeply saddened by the loss of Max Von Sydow, the fellow actors and other members of the industry communicated their love and remorse for the actor. They sent their regards and condolences to the family of the veteran actor and also remembered him for the diamonds he gave to the industry.

  • Kevin Smith (American Influencer) also paid tribute to him, citing his utmost respect and love toward the legend.
  • Film critic Scott Weinberg tweeted about the liveliness and youth that was always a part of Sydow.

 

The shoes he has left can never be filled, but we all can pray in unison for his soul to Rest in Peace. Amen.
