‘RIP Legend’: Twitter Unites To Pay Its Respects After Legendary Actor James Caan Passes Away
James Caan, 82 years old, has passed away. The actor is most well known for playing the role of Sonny Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, the son for whom Vito Corleone uttered the iconic line, “Look how they massacred my boy!”
The news of the actor’s death was revealed by a tweet from James Caan’s official Twitter account.

“It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

The cause of death was not revealed in the tweet.

James Caan had an illustrious movie career
James was a bulwark when it came to cinema, having acted in various notable roles across a span of 60 years. His film career boasts of movies like The Godfather, Misery, and Elf. He has also been nominated four times for the Golden Globe nominations. He has also been nominated for an Emmy and an Oscar.
Apart from his on-screen performances, Caan is known for his partying lifestyle. The actor was killing it, both on and off the screen, before deciding abruptly to call it quits in the late 80s.
