Rise of the Beasts Hits Record Low Benchmark in Michael Bay’s Transformers Franchise

Transformers, a sci-fi action thriller directed by Michael Bay, has expanded its franchise. In 2007, Bay’s debut entry in the sci-fi action franchise, based on the American toy line Hasbro, was produced. It marked the beginning of a series that is still going strong with new editions.

In June 2023, the seventh movie in the series was released in theatres. The Transformers: Rise of the Beasts live-action film series acts as a prequel to the first chapter, which Michael Bay directed. The new film in the mechanical franchise carried on Bumblebee‘s sophisticated storytelling and formula that was more character-focused than action-packed and difficult to follow. However, while receiving a significantly better rating on Rotten Tomatoes than the Michael Bay films, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has performed poorly at the box office.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts had the worst performance at the box office

The film had a higher score on Rotten Tomatoes than Bay’s films. Despite that, it failed to create a spark at the box office.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts made $429 million worldwide. The theatrical performance of the new film is the worst of any Transformers movie. Rise of the Beasts boasts a budget of up to $200 million. The most recent Transformers sequel, which was released in June, had a strong opening weekend, outperforming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It grossed $61 million domestically. However, its overall domestic tally is the third-lowest in the franchise. 

Rise of the Beasts struggled due to tons of competition at the box office. The box office was packed with big releases in Hollywood. Films like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Flash, and Elemental were running in theaters when the mechanical franchise dropped its new film. the most recent entry before Rise of the Beasts, 2018’s Bumblebee, has the second-lowest gross at $465 million.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts streaming details revealed

For more than a decade, the sci-fi action series based on the American toy line Hasbro has entertained people. The new film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts landed in theaters in June 2023. In the film, the world is about to face a serious threat, and Optimus Prime, the Autobots, and the Maximals, under the leadership of Optimus Primal, are expected to band together to combat it.

Rise of the Beasts, helmed by Creed II director Steven Caple Jr., was the second Transformers movie made after Michael Bay, with Bumblebee kicking off the franchise reboot. The billion-dollar production company Paramount has revealed the streaming information for the seventh installment of the franchise. Only 46 days after its release, Paramount announced the movie’s streaming information.

The film had a diversified ensemble cast. It includes Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback as the lead with Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Luna Lauren Velez, and Pete Davidson.
