The Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson Credits The Force For Her Casting.
Actor Rosario Dawson credits the force for her casting for the role of Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian. Rosario Dawson debuted as Ahsoka Tano in Season 2, Episode 5 of The Mandalorian.
Actor Rosario Dawson recently joined the Mandalorian cast as the Ex Jedi Ahsoka Tano. The continuous support from the Starwars community and pure chance helped her get this role. Rosario Dawson was asked about the casting in an interview with Starwars.com. She remarked, “It was surely the work of the force.”
The idea emerged in 2017 when a Twitter fan asked her if she would be interested in playing the role. The actor replied, “Yes, please?! #Ahsokalives #StarWars.”
“ I believe someone from the star wars press team saw the post and sent it to Dave,” she added. Dave Filoni is The producer of the Mandalorian. “Dave showed interest. He said I looked like her and could fit the role and followed me on Twitter. They followed me with a star wars account, and then that became like something just happened. I got excited, but then nothing came of it. Nothing happened for a long time.”
The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau wished to bring Ahsoka Tano into Mandos’s story in season 2. Favreau and Filoni rethought the idea of bringing in Rosario for the role of Tano. What eventually persuaded Filoni to bring Rosario was a picture of her with actor Hayden Christensen( Anakin skywalker in star wars prequels) on the set of shattered glass in 2003.
Why did Filoni Cast Rosario?
“When Dave Filoni browsed the internet and found a picture of the two of us hugging, he lost it,” said Rosario. Filoni believed that it was meant to be. He always spoke of movies like Yojimbo. She is wandering the galaxy and helping those in need.” Rosario added,” Ahsoka was always the true Jedi for me even if she isn’t really a Jedi anymore. She stood for the best that the Jedi order could be.” It is not confirmed whether Ahsoka will return; however, Rosario did hint at a potential return in season 2 on her Instagram.
