Rumored Tension Between Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest Forced Him to Leave ‘Live’
The news that Ryan Seacrest would be leaving after six years, shocked viewers of Live with Kelly and Ryan. In fact, several sources claimed that the 48-year-old star often looked exhausted just before leaving Live With Kelly and Ryan, which made his friends and co-workers concerned for him.
Although the decision surprised many fans of the popular talk show, sources claimed that it had been planned for some time after some of Seacrest’s absences from the program apparently offended some viewers. While some sources claimed that Ryan Seacrest’s alleged tension with his co-host, Kelly Ripa caused him to leave Live.
The American Idol host is also said to have revealed in February that he will move to the West Coast in order to continue working on his other ABC-affiliated projects.
On February 16, 2023, Seacrest announced his departure from his role as co-host of the daytime talk show, Live With Kelly and Ryan after nearly six years. But why?
Ryan Seacrest’s Exit From Live Was Discussed Since Last Summer
Since Ryan Seacrest‘s exit announcement, rumors have been circulating about potential reasons for his exit from Live, with fatigue and his bi-coastal filming schedule appearing to be the most likely of the possibilities. He has missed an increasing number of episodes over the past year due to fatigue, which, according to Page Six, ultimately led to the decision to replace him. The industry reported,
“Some of Ryan’s [Seacrest] absences created tension with everyone involved on the show. But everyone cares about him and respects him and just wants to make sure he’s OK.”
On the other hand, Kelly Ripa hasn’t missed a day of Live in 23 years, the source noted. But even though there have reportedly been some annoyances with Seacrest’s absences, concern for his physical and mental health comes first.
American Idol viewers were worried that the host had experienced a stroke during the show’s finale in May 2020. Although Seacrest took a break from both American Idol and Live after juggling several live shows, his publicist assured fans that there was no medical emergency.
Even Ryan Seacrest admitted that he had taken on too much work when he addressed his health scare, saying at the time that he had “burnt himself out.” According to reports, he has been planning to leave Live with Kelly and Ryan for some time in order to prevent another case of burnout.
Rumored Tension Between Him And Kelly Ripa?
Like all friendships, Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa have had their share of difficulties. According to rumors, there was some tension between the two at the beginning of Live with Kelly and Ryan when the American Idol host allegedly suggested moving the production to Los Angeles. This seemingly demonstrated how unfavorable the bi-coastal arrangement had been from the start.
However, that is all in the past now, because when the former co-hosts and Mark Consuelos, spoke on Live after Seacrest’s significant exit announcement, there was nothing but love. The two men referred to each other as family, and the Riverdale actor’s kind words even left Seacrest emotional.
On February 21, 2023, a source also claimed to Daily Mail that ABC, the broadcaster of Live With Kelly, was “eager” to replace him with Consuelos. “ABC has been eager to replace Seacrest with Mark. Viewers can’t get enough watching the sparks between them whenever he fills in for Ryan.”
For those who aren’t aware, Mark Consuelos has been on ABC’s radar ever since he first filled in for Michael Strahan, Ripa’s previous Live co-host. Though, it is unknown when the show’s name will officially change to Live with Kelly and Mark.
