Russo Brothers Pushed Back On The Idea Of Killing All 6 Original Avengers
Earlier, it was told that Feige wanted all the original 6 Avengers to die in Avengers: Endgame. It is now revealed that the Russo Brothers pushed back on this idea and for all the good reasons. The new book The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe takes us on a journey and gives us some serious insight. The book has revealed a lot of new information which lurks behind the curtains. One major piece of information that stands out is Kevin Feige wanted all the original six Avengers to die in Avengers: Endgame, but the Russos didn’t take it. Check it out.
The Russo Brothers Saved The Avengers
The original Avengers consists of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. But as seen in Avengers: Endgame, two of our Avengers, Iron Man and Black Widow, sacrificed themselves for the greater good. On the other hand, Captain America got a cathartic conclusion as he passed on the mantle to Sam Wilson. But it is now told that the original end was something else and it was far too ferocious.
The Russos say that Feige wanted a Toy Story 3-esque ending where the toys nearly fall to their death in a furnace. However, the dynamic duo did not like the ending, and for an appropriate reason. For a movie that already has a lengthy runtime of three hours, it was impossible to give every hero a proper goodbye. Characters like Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye are vital to the story and have their own fan following. Having 6 deaths/farewell would have resulted in poor writing. This would have changed one too many things. We know that there is a new team of Avengers, but not celebrating the founding members would be a total waste of an entire decade.
This is a creative decision that saved the authenticity of the MCU as they served right by their heroes. Now, Hawkeye is getting his own Disney+ series, Hulk is getting some serious action, and Thor is coming in his fourth solo film. Endgame was definitely a closure but killing off all the Avengers seemed like a rash decision and we’re glad it didn’t happen. What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below.
