Fans of American Idol are urging Ryan Seacrest to step down as the show’s host after he was accused of humiliating a contestant. Several American Idol fans criticized the host for his “nasty” behavior during Monday night’s episode of the singing competition series online.

The Live With Kelly and Ryan star had to inform contestants on Monday’s episode whether they had placed in the top 12 or not, and some viewers thought he was a little “nasty” in his delivery.

The 48-year-old television personality was blunt when discussing potential losses with a number of contestants, telling one: “You sang lose you to love me. We might lose you tonight.”

As a result of his rude behavior toward one of the contestants, the media personality who recently left Live With Kelly and Ryan was criticized by many of the show’s viewers.

Ryan Seacrest Was Slammed For His ‘Blunt’ Hosting

While hosting American Idol on Monday, Ryan Seacrest received criticism for making some “unkind” remarks. When emotions were at their peak, some viewers even urged the host to step down from his position and leave the program.

The 48-year-old was given the difficult task of revealing which acts would progress to the final 12 and which would be eliminated. However, the host received criticism for his “nasty” delivery as he announced potentially career-defining choices for the contestants.

Seacrest made it clear right away that he was not going to be soft-pedaling his choices when he said to one hopeful contestant:

“You sang lose you to love me. We might lose you tonight.”

As a result, fans on the social media site, Reddit took offense to his comments, with one user lashing out: “We might lose you [Ryan Seacrest] tonight was so nasty omg.” In what was undoubtedly a difficult time for candidates, one person claimed that the host wasn’t “softening any blows”.

“Ryan really needs to leave the show,” another user commented on Reddit. “He’s been so off today and yesterday, he just seems done.”

And This Is How He ‘Hits Back’

Ryan Seacrest shared his “excitement” about American Idol returning to live broadcasting while appearing unconcerned by the criticism.

He shared a photo of himself and the competition’s judge, Katy Perry backstage on Instagram. As the 48-year-old leaped into the air, Perry struck a playful robotic pose with her arms and legs.

“Can you tell I’m excited that American Idol is live again? Tune in now!” the former host of Live With Kelly and Ryan captioned the picture.

A few hours prior, viewers begged Seacrest to “quit” the show due to his inappropriate behavior. It was evident from the beginning of the episode that he would not sugarcoat anything for potential American Idol contestants.

The criticism came just one day after viewers criticized the program for airing what they described as an awfully long episode on Sunday. The competition was reduced from 26 singers to 20 during the three-hour television broadcast, and viewers “couldn’t even vote for their favorites until the end”.

Only six of the competitors had been eliminated during the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. EST. The remaining 20 singers were scheduled to perform during Monday’s episode, some of whom were competing to stay on the show.
