“No turning back now”: Kelly Ripa Admits She Annoyed the Heck Out of Mark Consuelos Before He Replaced Ryan Seacrest in ‘Live’
Kelly Ripa is a star herself. The talented actor and talk show host has earned a name in Hollywood. She has been the face of the widely watched talk show Live! for more than a decade. Recently the co-host of Live! With Kelly And Ryan bid adieu to the show. The millionaire TV presenter has been permanently replaced by Kelly Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos. The show would be renamed Live! With Kelly And Mark, and the first episode aired on April 17.
However, the first episode of Live! With Kelly And Mark did not get great reviews from the audience. The electrifying chemistry of the celebrated talk show host and Ryan Seacrest was missing. Kelly Ripa’s on-screen chemistry with her husband Mark Consuelos stood nowhere close to the ex-host.
Kelly Ripa And Mark Consuelos’ Are Hopeful After Brutal Reviews
Despite the much-hyped replacement for Ryan Seacrest, Mark Consuelos found it difficult to fit into the shoes of the notable TV presenter. After the first episode of Live! With Kelly and Mark aired, the viewers took to Twitter to voice out their opinions on the on-screen chemistry of the husband and wife host. Some even added it as ‘fake banter’. The viewers pointed out that Kelly Ripa was trying to cover up her husband’s nervousness on the show.
One of the tweets read as-
“I am so happy to see Mark & Kelly this morning….But Kelly could PLEASE LET HIM TALK….!!! OMG…! Let him start and finish a story his way…It’s the only way it’s going to work.”
On the fake banter of the couple and put on drama by the host couple on the show, a Twitter user tweeted-
“Bruuuutal! Last time i watch it. I can go to the mall and watch teenagers kiss LESS!!! THE BEGINNING OF THE END,”
During the show, the Riverdale actor went on to say-
“This is all feeling very permanent,” Consuelos said, to which the TV host turned-author replied, “Oh honey, nothing here is permanent. Except for me, evidently.”
During a conversation with ET’s media representative Rachel Smith, the actor went on to speak about how nervous and equally excited her husband was just before his debut episode on Live! Kelly Ripa mentioned that she heckled her husband Mark Consuelos and said-
“No turning back now, It’s too late.”
Kelly Ripa has maintained the popularity of the show ever since early 2001. The addition and permanent addition to the show Mark Consuelos will take time to reach Ryan Seacrest’s level of popularity.
Kelly Ripa Gave A Teary Farewell To Ryan Seacrest
During the last episode of Live! With Kelly And Ryan, everyone was emotional and teary-eyed while bidding goodbye to the popular show host Ryan Seacrest. Kelly Ripa expressed her gratitude and love for her colleague and good friend. She was overwhelmed with emotions and while processing her feelings, the actor said-
“For many years, Ryan’s ability to be the person featuring the talents of other people has been part of his job. But on our show, I feel like you got to show off your immeasurable talents to the world.”
She added-
“I always jokingly referred to you an onion with all of these layers. but really, what you are is a blooming onion; you are layers upon layers of goodness, of a kind, of charm … your generosity is unmatched.”
The Live Wire author gifted an expensive personalized golf bag as a farewell gift to Ryan Seacrest. The American Idol host said-
“I’m starting to get sporty now. I’m into tennis, I’m into golf — meaning I’ve gotten some equipment. Kelly has heard and seen the photo evidence of me wanting to get into golf. So, she and Mark purchased me the most beautiful, elegant, designer golf bag that now I have.”
Ryan Seacrest worked for multiple years with Kelly Ripa on the talk show. He has learned so much from her and they are very good friends. While talking about his colleague, the celebrated media personality went on to say-
“Working alongside Kelly over the past six years has been a dream job and one of the highlights of my career. She has been an amazing partner, friend, and confidant, and although we will always be a part of each other’s lives, I will miss our mornings together.”
As a co-host, Mark Consuelos has the immense potential to scale the show’s popularity along with his wife.
