Ryan Reynolds Expresses His Desire To Be The Next James Bond

If an opportunity presents itself, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds will not shy away from playing the next James Bond. While speaking to The Times about Reynolds’ personal life and career, the actor seemed absolutely ready to play the iconic role. “I hear they’re looking for a new Bond,” Reynolds cracked. “Could you accept a Canadian sipping gin and tonic instead of a martini? If so, I’m interested.”

Many Reynolds fans would be excited to hear this but this might cause a lot of stir among traditionalists who are used to seeing a British actor playing the role. Whatever one says, the choice for selecting the next James Bond after Daniel Craig will be a tough task for the creative team behind the 007 movies. Although there have been some entries in the past that haven’t been as successful, people have turned up to see the movies whenever they hit the theaters. It’s actually quite fascinating to think that James Bond is currently without a lead actor for the very first time in almost two decades.

Earlier Dwayne Johnson Revealed His Wish To Play The New Bond

It was even teased by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson that he wishes to play the role. Both Johnson and Reynolds have recently shared the screen in Netflix’s Red Notice. It would actually be quite hilarious to have both auditioning for the role.

Dwayne Johnson even spoke to Esquire about the possibility. “Yes, my grandfather was a Bond villain in You Only Live Twice with Sean Connery. It was very, very cool. And I would like to follow in his footsteps and be the next Bond. I don’t wanna be a villain. Gotta be Bond.”

Daniel Craig appeared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the end of the journey for the character and the star did not mince much of his words ahead of the release of No Time To Die.

“This is it. That’s it, it’s over,” Craig said. “But I, for one, am incredibly happy I got the chance to come back and do another one, because… this movie, whatever people think of it — who knows what people are going to think of it — everybody, including these people here, just put everything into it. And we did our best. And it feels like that. I know it sounds simplistic, but we did.”
