Upsetting News For ‘Dune’ Fans Amid SAG-AFTRA Strike Comes Out
The Dune movies are a planned two-part adaptation of the 1965 science-fiction novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the first part of this movie remained faithful to its source material and garnered a great amount of critical acclaim. It won 6 Academy Awards out of the 10 it was nominated for, a feat not many movies have managed to achieve.
The second part of the movie is set to be released later this year. The Dune: Part 2 panel was going to be a part of the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) which is to run from July 20 to July 23 this year. However, in an unfortunate turn of events and much to the disappointment of the fans, the panel will no longer be attending SDCC.

Dune: Part 2 Panel’s Upsetting Absence at SDCC
Having the complete love and support of the fans for itself and the nearing date of the movie’s release, the panel had no plausible reason for its absence at SDCC. The news of their absence is very upsetting for the fans who were excited to hear from Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and other cast members along with director Denis Villeneuve.
Legendary Entertainment, the producer of the Dune movie adaptations, had to cancel their plans to showcase Dune: Part 2 and their Monsterverse panels at extremely short notice. The SAG-AFTRA strike has led to the absence of the panels at SDCC. This might affect the publicity of the highly anticipated movie adversely.

The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike, however, doesn’t seem to affect the filming of the prequel series, Dune: The Sisterhood by HBO Max. The TV series is based on the 2012 prequel novel The Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It will explore the origins of the legendary organization, Bene Gesserit.
Dune Part: 2 Panel Not the Only One to Be Absent at SDCC
With the SAG-AFTRA joining WGA on strike for fair wages, the Hollywood film industry has been slowly turning upside down. From Florence Pugh who walked out of the London premiere of Oppenheimer to Ron Perlman who posted a video bashing a studio exec’s cruel comments, every actor is supporting the strike by protesting in their own way.
Panel for the movie Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has also canceled its presence at SDCC. Panels of TV shows such as Amazon’s Wheel of Time, Freevee’s Jury Duty, and ABC’s Abbott Elementary will also not be seen at the Comic-Con. MCU and DC have also already confirmed that they won’t be attending SDCC this year. Director Jeff Rowe may give a presentation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in the presence or the absence of the actors.
