What’s even more saddening is that SPS is currently incurable, and it’s keeping the All By Myself maker from singing. Reports have revealed that due to her medical condition, Celine Dion might not be able to sing, despite her passion for it.
Celine Dion Continues To Struggle With Incurable Stiff Person Syndrome
Celine Dion is undeniably an iconic and acclaimed singer, known for her exceptional voice. The singer has engaged fans worldwide for decades with her hit songs. However, things have entirely changed for Dion, as she has been diagnosed with a harrowing disease. In December 2022, while the I’m Alive star was set for her Courage World Tour, she announced the cancellation due to Stiff Person Syndrome.
Celine Dion has been open about her health struggles, be it her fertility challenges or ear surgery. The singer postponed numerous dates in her tour, but in May 2023, Dion canceled her shows and mentioned on her website that:
“I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%…I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!”
New concerning reports on the health condition of The Power of Love star has emerged and according to that, Celine Dion’s disease is incurable even and won’t allow her to sing again the way she did. According to Radar Online‘s report:
“Her voice is just not coming back the way that would allow her to perform or record again…Sadly, it doesn’t seem to be repairable — whether through surgery or therapy.”
Stiff Person Syndrome is quite a challenging disease, that can attack the nerves of the patient, resulting in the freezing of muscles. This rare disease even has the potential to break the person’s bones. Concerned about her health, Celine Dion might not be able to flaunt her enchanting voice.

SPS is indisputably a haunting disease that affects a person’s ability to sing and walk. Unfortunately, it affected one of the most famous and beloved singers in the pop world, who has been an example of a perfectly mesmerizing voice. The Because You Loved Me star’s sister, Claudette Dion, shared that her sister doesn’t have control of her muscles.
According to USA Today, Dion’s sister opened up about the singer’s struggles, and challenges and also shared her feeling after witnessing the icon suffer. She said:
“She doesn’t have control over her muscles. What pains me is that she has always been disciplined. She always worked hard. The vocal cords are muscles, and the heart is also a muscle. This is what gets me.”
Despite not being able to sing the way Celine Dion used to, her sister revealed her admiration for getting back on the stage and performing for her fans. Currently, the singer is working on her health condition with a sports medicine therapist.
