Academy Award nominee Salma Hayek is one of Hollywood’s most powerful and influential Mexican actresses. She has been in the industry for decades and has worked on many projects of diverse genres. Besides being a great actress and film producer, she is also the wife of French businessman François-Henri Pinault and mother to Valentina Paloma Pinault and three stepkids.
Her daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault is now 17 and has her career goal set. In a recent interview, Hayek opened up about her daughter’s plans, and it sounds like Pinault might just be the next Hollywood prodigy that the world will witness.
Salma Hayek’s Daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault Has Her Career Plans Set
Salma Hayek started her career as an actress in her early 20s. Her role in the TV series, Un Nuevo Amanecer earned her an award for Best Debut Actress. Her portrayal of the titular character in the TV series, Teresa catapulted her to star status in Mexico. Her road to becoming a successful Hollywood actress was tougher than that because there were not many roles for Mexican women in the industry.
After making her breakthrough with Desperado, she eventually made her way to the top with projects like the biographical film, Frida and the romantic comedy, Fools Rush In. The former of these made her the first Mexican actress to have been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Now that her daughter is 17, it is her time to shine and she already seems to have picked what she wants to do.
In a recent edition of Today (via HELLO!), while promoting her upcoming HBO series Like Water for Chocolate which she executive produces, she opened up about Paloma Pinault’s goals. Pinault wants to be a director, but not before studying something that she finds compelling.
She’s going her own way, there’s nothing that she’s doing right now. She wants to study political science, and then Film as a minor. She wants to be a director but she doesn’t want to study to be a director because she said, ‘It’s in my blood. I want to spend time learning something more complicated.’
According to Hayek’s Instagram post from a little over a month ago, Pinault has recently turned 17 and is ready to leave home as she steps into the next phase of her life. Considering the Banderas actress herself is a film producer, it does not come as too much of a surprise that her daughter wants to be a director. Hopefully, her dream of directing a project will be fulfilled soon so that Hollywood can be the next prodigy in the industry.
Salma Hayek Is Grateful That She Has Stepchildren
Becoming a mother is a big feat for every woman and Salma Hayek is no exception. She had one child with her husband, but unfortunately, could not have any more children. In an interview with Red magazine, she claimed that she always wanted a big family and that desire was fulfilled because she has three stepchildren.
I’ve had that yearning, that longing, and that pain. I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one. The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children. So I have four. And they are all so different.
She shares four kids with her husband François-Henri Pinault: François (born in 1998) and Mathilde (born in 2001) whom the businessman had with his ex-wife Dorothée Lepère, and Augustin James (born in 2006) whom he had with supermodel Linda Evangelista.
