Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Continues to Make Waves in the MCU Despite Marvel Failing to Seek Justice for Tobey Maguire’s Unreleased Fourth Film
- Wolverine’s scene in 'Deadpool 3' features music similar to that in Sam Raimi’s 'Spider-Man.'
- Fans have noticed the musical similarity and are discussing potential Raimiverse connections.
- This comes after Marvel missed the chance to honor Tobey Maguire’s fourth installment.
The release of the new Deadpool & Wolverine movie has excited fans everywhere. One scene, in particular, is causing a lot of buzz and getting everyone talking about Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.
Fans might know that after Spider-Man 3, which was the highest-grossing but least-liked in the trilogy, Sony had plans for Raimi’s Spider-Man 4. Unfortunately, the studio canceled it and rebooted the franchise with Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man.
However, thanks to fans, Raimi’s Spider-Man continues to make waves in the MCU, even though the studio didn’t give him the justice he deserved with the fourth installment.
Fans Spot Spider-Man Theme Echo in Wolverine Scene
It all starts when Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) dramatically pulls down his mask in Deadpool & Wolverine, and a familiar musical note plays. The cue has left many listeners with a sense of déjà vu. The tune that plays during this important scene sounds strikingly similar to Madonna’s song Like a Prayer from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.
This surprising similarity has sparked a lot of discussion among fans. Some even wonder if Wolverine might be from the Raimiverse and somehow ended up in the MCU. Check out some fan reactions:
Omg seriously hahaha I know we're all wanting this, but this music is a remix of like a prayer which Madonna mixed herself lol but I hear you we all want this cross over too

At one time Hugh was suspose to be in tobeys movies but they couldn't get into the place to get his suite so it didn't happen it's a possibility that he is the x men 97 one and it's connected to the 90s Spiderman which tobeys Spiderman is based on so there is a chance

While this idea is certainly thrilling, it’s important to stay a bit skeptical. Music often has similar elements and themes, so the resemblance between the two pieces might just be a coincidence rather than a hidden reference. It shows that fans’ wish to find hidden meanings and connections often makes them see patterns that aren’t really there.
That’s How Like a Prayer Got Featured in Deadpool & Wolverine
Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy went all out to get Madonna’s classic 1989 hit, Like a Prayer, for their new superhero film, Deadpool & Wolverine. The pair shared that they went to see the pop legend in person to get her approval for the song.
Levy said the encounter felt like they were “meeting royalty.” Reynolds admitted he was nervous talking to Madonna and even joked about asking her team how to refer to her. Luckily, their charm and the fact that Madonna’s son was a fan of the earlier Deadpool films helped them out.
The 65-year-old not only gave them permission to use the song but also gave great advice on improving the scene. The filmmakers were so impressed that they quickly re-recorded it to incorporate her idea.
Deadpool & Wolverine is currently screening in theaters, while you can watch Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man on Disney+.
