Sandra Bullock Couldn’t Believe Daniel Radcliffe Could Pull Off His Weird Al Biopic
Sandra Bullock has starred in numerous movies over the years, not to mention that she has worked with uncountable Hollywood A-listers. One of them is the British actor Daniel Radcliffe, who has been in show business since the age of 11 when he was cast in the film adaptation of J. K. Rowling’s best-selling book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Sandra Bullock worked with Daniel Radcliffe in the 2022 action-adventure film The Lost City. The movie follows the story of a romance novelist and her cover model as they try to escape the billionaire who wants the novelist to find a long-lost treasure. In early 2022, it was announced that Radcliffe would be playing the role of musician Alfred Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, which had been teased for about 12 years.
Sandra Bullock Was Supportive of Daniel Radcliffe
During a joint interview with HeyUGuys on YouTube, Sandra Bullock was asked how she felt about Radcliffe playing the role of Alfred ‘Al’ Yankovic to which she reacted quite enthusiastically, saying that it is “incredible” and that the society has advanced enough to see the Now You See Me 2 actor win an Oscar for his performance in the biopic.
The Murder by Numbers actress went on to say:
“Well, I think we’re now involved enough to handle it. I think Daniel playing ‘Weird’ Al is inspired. You go wait, what, and then you go, ‘Oh my god, this is going to be amazing.’ It’s inspired, and when it hits it’s going to be all anyone’s talking about. It’s exciting.”
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story‘s screenplay was written by director Eric Appel and the Eat It musician himself. In 2010, a fake trailer for a movie with the eponymous name was released as a parody of the biographical films of other musicians. Yankovic began considering really doing it in 2019, following which the movie was announced in 2022 with Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role.
Daniel Radcliffe Recalled An Iconic Scene from The Lost City
In The Lost City, Sandra Bullock played the role of the novelist Loretta Sage while Daniel Radcliffe played the role of the eccentric billionaire Abigail Fairfax. Other actors that were seen in the movie were Channing Tatum, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and even a cameo for Brad Pitt.
Having grossed a worldwide total of $192.9 million against a production budget of $68 million, The Lost City did well at the box office. During the interview with HeyUGuys, Daniel Radcliffe appeared with Sandra Bullock. The Guns Akimbo actor recalled how the special effects department did not let go of its chance to shine.
Radcliffe said that it was very exciting to watch things unfold when a person from the special effects department gets this “insane” look on their face. In this movie, two huge fans were brought out for a special effect and one of the guys told the actor that the fans are never used on the set unless they are blowing swathes through jungles.
