Schitt’s Creek Star Almost Played Ken in Barbie
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie is unquestionably one of the greatest releases this year. The marketing, promotional activities, and the cast and crew themselves had a huge part to play in the film’s hype. One thing about the project that was even more interesting seems to have been the casting process.
Many actors were reportedly down to play a Barbie or a Ken which had a lot to do with Gerwig being the filmmaker. One famous actor who almost made it to the film was Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy among many others who could become a part of the final Barbie Cast ensemble.
Schitt’s Creek Star Dany Levy Could Have Played a Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie
One interesting thing related to the Barbie movie seems to be its casting process. Many actors were rushing to grab a role seemingly for the fact that Greta Gerwig was the one directing the film. According to casting directors Allison Jones their objective was to find actors with diversity in terms of gender identities, race, ethnicity, body types, etc.
She opened with Variety saying,
“We needed actors who could get the fact that our Barbies only ka new pleasant thing”
And when it came to the roles of the various Kens many actors auditioned but not everybody could grab the role. One such star was Dan Levy from Schitt’s Creek.
However, his reason had nothing to do with his audition. It had been due to the reason that the film which started its production during the pandemic required its cast to spend three months straight in London since that’s where most of the filming took place. Along with Levy, Bowen Yang, and Ben Platt also could not make it into the film for the same reason.
More on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie

Other cast members are Simu Liu, America Ferreira, etc. Ferreira plays the role of a real human outside of Barbieland.
The plot of the film is centered around the experience that Barbie and Ken get to have when they get a chance to live in the real world. Living among humans, they realize is much different than their Barbieland where everything seems to be fun and no worries.
