Secret Invasion Star Emilia Clarke Says Marvel “Isn’t just a superhero franchise”
Emilia Clarke makes her MCU debut as Secret Invasion is set to bring Daenerys Targaryen into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Clarke has already made her way into some of the biggest staples in modern pop culture, and the latest addition is MCU. The only notable miss in her basket is that of the DC Universe. Sooner or later, she will find her way into James Gunn’s world, but Clarke has expressed her willingness to work with MCU for a prolonged period.
Emilia Clarke Admits MCU Is Better Than Game Of Thrones
Speaking with Yahoo’s Kevin Polowy, Secret Invasion actress, Emilia Clarke shared why the MCU is the best franchise she has joined yet. Clarke said that working in the MCU has been a better experience for her than Game Of Thrones. She shares a long history with pop culture franchises with roles in Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Terminator.
The veteran actress is finally making her MCU debut in Secret Invasion, latest Disney+ series. Her character, the grown-up Skrull daughter of Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos G’iah has earlier appeared as a child in Captain Marvel.
Speaking about MCU, Clarke said, “Oh my god, it’s just the best… It’s such a pedigree in its own right, it lives in its own level that is separate from everything else. It isn’t just a superhero franchise, it’s Marvel, like it’s totally different.”
Well, this isn’t the first time Clarke has discussed her experience with Marvel studios applauding the franchise’s work. “I’m genuinely having a wicked time on Marvel, though, they’re absolutely brilliant.” She has enjoyed her debut journey with MCU to the fullest and compared to working in Game Of Thrones, Clarke called it a unique experience.
Emilia Clarke’s Unforgettable Experience Filming For MCU’s New Marvel Series
Actress Emilia Clarke shared her experience while filming for the new Marvel series, Secret Invasion. Clarke said to Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall, “I’m trying not to spoil anything, but there are some things that I got to do that were the funnest days I’ve ever had on a set ever,” “There’s some stuff that I really – I mean, I literally was just like a kid in a candy shop,” she added. “Like, ‘I want to do that again! That was so fun!’”
Emilia portrays G’iah, the daughter of Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos, the leader of a Skrull sect in Secret Invasion and shares that what sets the series apart from other Marvel stories is just how grounded it is.
Talking about her new Marvel series, Clarke said, “It’s not that there isn’t some fun stuff in this show – there is,” “But in the first instance, you’re on the edge of your seat, there’s an urgency to it, it feels like an espionage … The thriller element is big, which you haven’t seen in the Marvel universe.”
The first episode of Secret Invasion is streaming now on Disney+, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday. It is too early to say or predict where Clarke’s character G’iah will end up by the time the six-episode Disney+ run concludes.
