Shameik Moore’s Crazy Comments About a Legendary Civil Rights Activist Eclipse His “Weirdo” Move With Laura Harrier
- Shameik Moore is widely known for voicing Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse franchise.
- Moore made some very odd comments about civil rights activist, Rosa Parks.
- The actor-singer has apologized to Laura Harrier, claiming that it was a "misunderstanding".
Shameik Moore, best known for voicing the titular Marvel character Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse franchise, recently came under fire for posting a video in which he was seen posing next to Laura Harrier. The actress quickly called him out, leading to a full-blown public outrage against him.
However, some might find it surprising that this is not the first time Moore has done something so bizarre that it is hardly believable. In fact, his comments about the civil rights activist Rosa Parks are way more weird than his recent actions.
Shameik Moore made some bizarre comments about civil rights activist Rosa Parks
Back in 2020, when the world was struggling to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine that people had to go into, an African-American man named George Floyd was brutally killed by a policeman in the U.S. Millions of people protested against the injustice that had been done to Floyd. Among those people were also celebrities like John Cusack, Halsey, Ariana Grande, Ben Affleck, Nick Cannon, and Harry Styles.
While many celebrities protested against the police brutality that claimed George Floyd’s life by marching peacefully in the streets or raising awareness on social media, Shameik Moore drew criticism for his controversial comments about Rosa Parks, the iconic Black civil rights activist who famously protested during the Civil Rights Movement in 1955.
Moore posted a lengthy thread on X telling his black followers how best to “avoid” becoming the victim of police brutality.
Later, he took to Instagram to start a live broadcast intending to clarify what he meant but only ended up making matters worse by saying (via X):
Rosa Parks, sitting at the front of the bus, right? What we don’t know as a black community is, [there were] black-owned taxi cabs and black buses that could have been used during that time. This is something a lot of people might not want to hear.
This caused the public to get even more angry than they were after Moore posted the thread. The fact that the posts are still there on the internet makes it seem like the actor remained unfazed throughout the whole ordeal regardless of what the people thought of it.
Shameik Moore has apologized to Laura Harrier for what he believes was a “misunderstanding”
Laura Harrier took to TikTok to reveal that she had asked Moore to take down a year-old video of them taking pictures together. The video gave the false impression that the two were dating. The Spider-Man: Homecoming actress claimed that she had asked the actor-singer to remove the video (via X).
I texted him, ‘Hey, can you take this down? I’m not sure why you would post that. Also, I am literally getting married and I don’t like this insinuation that there’s something going on between us if that was your intention.’
Harrier is engaged to be married to the French freelance creative Sam Jarou and was offended that Moore did not comply with her requests, leading her to call him a “weirdo”. After fans began calling out the Wu-Tang: An American Saga actor, he posted a now-deleted video in which he claimed that it was all a “misunderstanding” (via X).
This is all a misunderstanding… it’s really the fan fiction man, it’s the commentary, that’s what’s fucking weird. I mean no harm… I have no ill intent… it’s about art… the video has the aesthetic of a song… that’s it.
Regardless of Moore’s clarification of the situation, it cannot be denied that it was disrespectful to Harrier who is very private about her relationships and usually does not like to talk about such things on social media.
