Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Recalls Tweets He Sent To Marvel Years Ago About The Movie
Day 3 of San Deigo Comic Con brought about a lot of surprises by Marvel Studios as Kevin Feige revealed the entire Phase Four line up. Among all the movies officially announced, one was Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Who Will Be Playing The Lead Role In Marvel’s Shang-Chi Movie?
The movie will star Simu Liu in the titular role. He is best known for playing Jung in Kim’s Convenience. Liu has been pushing to play a superhero for quite sometime. So now that the news is out, he has been sharing old tweets and it’s just delightful. Check out his tweets below:

He wrote back in December that:
“OK @Marvel, are we gonna talk or what #Shangchi”
He replied back to the old tweet after the news broke yesterday as: “Well Shit“. He tweeted again saying:
“Thanks for getting back to me.”
Wait, there are more predictions from Simu Liu’s vault. He wrote five years ago that:
“Hey @Marvel, great job with Cpt America and Thor. Now how about an Asian American hero?”.
“Lol,” he replied today.
Congratulations For Landing The Lead Role In MCU’s Shang-Chi.
A lot of people congratulated Simu Liu after it was announced that he had landed the coveted role. One of then was DC’s Black Lightning’s Grace @Chantal Thuy who wrote: “Congrats dude!!!! Way to go.”
@KeikoAgena added: “Congratulations Simu! I’m so excited for this.”
@tonykchoi joked that: “This is the millennial equivalent of a vision board.”
Who Is Shang-Chi?
In the comics, Shang-Chi is raised to become a deadly assassin. His life gets turned upside down when he discovers nefarious details about his father. Shang Chi then sets out to right his father’s wrongs, thus becoming Marvel’s “Master of Kung Fu”. He also goes on to serve as a member of Heroes for Hot and the Avengers.
The movie will be directed by Dustin Daniel Creton. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings releases on February 12, 2021.
