Shawn Levy Breaks Silence On One of the Biggest Fans’ Concerns About Stranger Things 5
Canadian director and producer Shawn Levy started in the Hollywood entertainment industry as an actor. He began directing teen drama in the late 1990s. He gained recognition as a director in the early 2000s when he directed the comedy films Big Fat Liar and Just Married. He went on to direct film franchises like Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen, and The Pink Panther.
Shawn Levy, founder of 21 Laps Entertainment, started working as an executive producer on the Netflix horror sci-fi TV series Stranger Things in 2016. The show has become one of the beloved ones on Netflix. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have pulled the brakes on the production of the fifth and final season of the show. Recently, Levy has spoken up about one of the biggest fan concerns regarding the show’s delay.
Shawn Levy Clarified A Big Fan Concern about Stranger Things
It has been more than a year since the finale of the fourth season was released. Fans have been eagerly waiting to find out what’s next in the show. However, with the SAG-AFTRA strike still going on, it is hard to tell when the show will be back in production.
This has led to major concerns regarding the aging of the actors as it might stand as an issue considering the characters in the show are younger than the actual ages of the stars. Previously, Shawn Levy had put a rest to these concerns saying that AI will not be used to de-age the actors.
While talking to Deadline during an interview, Shawn Levy has once again revealed that AI will not be used for the actors, saying:
“I kind of was surprised that one sentence I said around this topic traveled so widely. The bottom line is, we know what we’re doing on this show. Our cast is brilliant. And these characters that the Duffers have created are so vivid. I’m not worried about everyone suiting backup and bringing them to life.”
It is not uncommon for AI to be used for the de-aging of actors. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard was probably de-aged using AI for the role of Richie Tozier in IT: Chapter Two.
Shawn Levy Will Give His Best To Stranger Things
Shawn Levy worked with Ryan Reynolds on several projects such as Free Guy, The Adam Project, and now he is working with Reynolds on Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Deadpool 3. The superhero movie is only 50% complete so Levy will have his hands full with Stranger Things and Deadpool 3.
In the interview with Deadline, Levy said that things are still quite uncertain. He said:
“I have seen so many calendars on every production, and each one of them gets ripped up because we’re all guessing at when our industry will resume production. So, I just am going to find a way to give all of these projects that mean so much to me, all of myself. I’m not going to half-a** any of it.”
Rest assured, the Real Steel director is going to do his best to keep both projects running once the SAG-AFTRA strike comes to an end. So, fans need not worry about their beloved movies and shows.
