This question has been around since a while: Who’s gonna win in 2019- Captain Marvel or Shazam?

DC will be coming with Shazam, the original Captain Marvel, one month after the release of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain Marvel.

And now, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has dealt with the confusion between these two characters through a tweet.

Now, Marvel has the trademark for Captain Marvel, while DC has published their Captain Marvel comics as Trials of Shazam or Power of Shazam, along with many other variations. During the New 52 launch, DC finally gave up on using Captain Marvel in their comics.

With so many superhero films coming soon, Marvel’s Captain Marvel will be facing tough competition from Shazam, but its director Sandberg doesn’t feel that Shazam will be facing a problem.

“It’s such a unique character, and it is that wish fulfillment of a kid that gets to become an adult superhero, which we haven’t seen before, really,” Sandberg told EW. “So it’s just a really fun movie that has its own style.”

“But by the way, I think very deftly put into the hands of someone who has such an incredible vision as yourself, and you have such awesome style yourself, so you get to bring that [to this movie],” added Levi. “That’s one of the reasons I was very excited about it was watching your previous work, that has nothing to do with a family-friendly superhero genre.”
