Why Does Miley Cyrus Hate Touring?

Championing her mental health over anything else, Miley Cyrus became a role model for many suffering silently. She broke her silence on the immense personal and professional troubles she faced. Apart from her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus also shed light on the fact that touring feels unhealthy to her because of the grueling schedules. No matter what she goes through backstage, the singer emphasizes how she has to put on a smile to greet her fans.

“After the last show I did, I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfilment other than my own? If you’re performing at a certain level of intensity and excellence, there should be an equal amount of recovery and rest. There’s a level of ego that gets overused when I’m on tour and once that switches on, it’s hard to turn it off. And I think when you’re training your ego every single night to be active, that’s the hardest switch for me to turn off.”

It indeed takes a lot of energy to dance, sing, and perform for the fans on stage for 90 minutes straight, and to do this every night on top of constant traveling from one place to another. As fans, people don’t realize the backend effort that allows them to enjoy their favorite songs live. At the same time, Cyrus clarified that she loves her fans and is not taking this step because of them. She wanted to prioritize her health to come back stronger.

Will Miley Cyrus Tour in 2024?

Most recent reports suggest that the Wrecking Ball singer is in talks with MSG in Las Vegas to perform at The Sphere. Despite resolving to not perform or tour again, Cyrus has been missing performing for her fans and wants to do a live show. However, not going live did not impact her negatively because her recent album Endless Summer Vacation and single Flowers has garnered widespread recognition and love from all her fans. Flowers, in fact, broke records and topped charts worldwide.

MSG has reached out to Cyrus for her to take over The Sphere residency after the Irish band U2 packs up their shows. However, with the sky-high fees charged by U2 for their shows which is about $800k per show, MSG is not drowning in debt and barely managing to onboard more artists. The news of U2 fees has reached every corner of the industry and now everyone wants a bigger slice of the pie. A source close to the situation revealed to The Sun,

“Miley has been in talks about making her Sin City debut for quite some time. She initially declined an offer from MSG but while she hates life on the road, she still loves being on stage. Talks resumed recently after a higher offer was put on the table. One of the problems bosses have is that because they paid so much for U2, other artists have taken notice and are digging their heels in when it comes to their fees.”

This news comes as a pleasant surprise to her fans who thought they would never see their favourite singer back on stage again. With a power-packed list of songs, it is always fun to watch Miley Cyrus perform, and add to that the enigma of The Sphere, it will be pure magic.
